Description

Enter a description for the category. This field can hold up to 50 characters.

Note For the description to display in the customer portal in a font size and font color other than the pre-defined default (font size = 2, font color = blue), it must be written in a format acceptable for customer portal viewing. This is generally accomplished using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) tags. For more information, see HTML Basics FAQ.

Long Description

Enter a detailed description for the category. This description is used by search engines to find the category if no description is entered on the SEO tab.

Note For the long description to display in the customer portal in a font size and font color other than the pre-defined default (font size = 2, font color = blue), it must be written in a format acceptable for customer portal viewing. This is generally accomplished using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) tags. For more information, see HTML Basics FAQ.

Override Order

Select this check box to allow the default sort order (alphabetical) of displayed products in a category to be overridden. If you select this check box, the up, down and ABC buttons next to the Products in Category grid are enabled and you can move products in the list up or down.

Example When displaying products in a category such as red sweatshirts, a company might want them to appear in order of size: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, etc. instead of alphabetically.

Display on Customer Portal

Select this check box to allow the customer portal category to be displayed. If this check box is cleared, customer portal users will not see this category. This is useful when adding new customer portal categories that are not yet ready (i.e. for customer portal users to view and place orders). A customer portal category can be defined with this check box cleared, then on the day the product(s) are to be available it can be selected.

Display As Featured Item

Select this check box to display the category on the default main customer portal Web page. This is the Web page that displays when a user correctly accesses the customer portal. If you select this check box, the category is displayed as a link at the center of the Web page, and users can click the link to view products in the category.

Note If None is selected for the Display As radio set, links for products in the category display on the default main customer portal Web page instead of a link for the category.

Display Number of Results

Select this check box to display the number of products in the category on the customer portal site. This check box is cleared or selected by default based on whether the Display Number of Results by Default check box is selected in Customer Portal Site Maintenance.

Include Products in Parent Category

Select this check box to include products in a parent category in the category. This check box is cleared by default.

Display As

Select a method of displaying the customer portal category's products. Select one of the following:

  • None - Display an image for each product in the category.

  • Product View - Display a list of products in the category with product images and product information, such as descriptions and units of measure.

  • B2B Style Matrix View - Display products in the category in a style matrix. Only select this method if all products in the category are in the same product style.

  • B2C Style View - Display product information for a specific color and size in a style. Only select this method if all products in the category are in the same product style.
