Question: If I delete several stock adjustment codes, will it have any effect on the transactions that have used those codes to date? Will the reports we generate for returns, etc. still show the adjustment codes used that were available at that time?
Answer: Yes, the reports will show the correct codes because the codes are stored on the individual inventory transactions. However, you do want to make sure that everything is posted. If you delete the stock adjustment code before transactions that use that code are posted, the system will not be able to determine the general ledger accounts for the transactions. This will result in either:
No accounts - in this case, the software will force you to enter the correct account.
Wrong accounts - in order to use a general ledger account, the system may obtain an account from somewhere other than the stock adjustment code.
