Direct Debit Collection Processing

Direct debit payment processing allows you to be paid by your customers via an electronic withdrawal from your customer's bank account. Apprise allows you to export direct debit payment files, which you can then electronically transfer to a customer's bank.

To use direct debit payment processing, perform the following setup steps:

  1. In Bank Extract Format Maintenance, create bank extract formats based on the specifications of the banks from which you will be paid by Non-SEPA direct debits.

  2. In Bank Code Maintenance, set up banks, and set up direct debit settings for the banks in the Direct Debit Collection Processing section on the Options tab. For SEPA direct debits, you must enter the unique business identifier code (BIC) or Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) code for the bank.

  3. In Account Maintenance, for each cash account that will be used for direct debits, enter bank account information. On the Bank Information tab, enter the bank account number, name, and bank code. Enter an IBAN or ABA routing number. If necessary, you can also enter additional bank information in the user-defined fields on the Bank User Fields tab.

  4. In Customer Bank Account Maintenance, enter the bank account number, bank account name, bank code, and IBAN or ABA routing numbers for the bank account associated with each customer that will pay via direct debits.

  5. In Direct Debit Mandate Maintenance, set up direct debit mandates, which are records of the authorization given by a debtor to a creditor to allow the creditor to initiate collections for debiting a specified debtor's account.

To process direct debits, create invoices with a payment method of Direct Debit. Then, you can use Direct Debit Collection Management to export the direct debit collection processing files.
