A backflush bin is a bin that stores component products used to manufacture products for a work order. Products stored in a backflush bin do not need to be issued as material for a work order. This is because the products are typically smaller, low-value material, such as hang tags, which do not need to be tracked with the same level of detail as more valuable components.
A backflush bin is selected for a product’s location in Product Location Maintenance on the Warehouse tab. Additionally, the backflush bin minimum and maximum levels can be stored. These quantities, along with the bin’s cubic capacity are used to determine replenishments to the backflush bin.
Note The Primary Backflush Bin field is not displayed as a required field on the Warehouse tab. However, after a bill of material is defined with the component product that was assigned a backflush bin, the backflush bin becomes a required field.
If you choose a backflush bin for a component, it is the only bin from which the component can be issued.
The inventory in a backflush bin may be negative in Apprise during work order confirmation if there is enough available quantity of the component in other bins in the location (so that the overall inventory for the location is positive). The user will receive a warning message if this occurs.
