Cost variance hold is a type of work order hold that occurs if the estimated cost of the goods to be produced is too high or too low based on a specific benchmark and allowable variance percentage range (high and low). Set up default cost variance hold settings in Manufacturing Control Maintenance and settings for specific bills of material in Bill of Material Maintenance.
Users can be authorized to remove the cost variance hold from work orders in User Extended Options. To release a work order from cost variance hold, an authorized user must edit the work order. When they save their changes by clicking the OK button in the ribbon, the Question dialog box appears and asks whether to release the work order. Clicking the Yes button releases the work order.
