DRP - Forecast Sales History FAQ

Question: How is the shipping location determined for forecast sales history?

Answer: It depends on whether the product is a stocking or non-stocking item, and the shipping location of the sales order. The shipping location of the sales order (which defaults from the customer) is the preferred location for the sales order. If the product is a stocking item in that location, then the history is recorded for that location (even though it could have actually shipped from another location). The reason this is done is that the product would have shipped from the preferred shipping location if it had been available. Because history affects the forecast for a location, the forecast should include this history. Otherwise, the actual shipping location on the sales order line is used to update sales history.
