Question: What impact does the Active check box in Customer Maintenance have on a customer's record? I do not want to sell to a customer, however I want to perform inquiries on the customer.
Answer: Making a customer inactive will make it disappear from the customer Lookup windows. In inquiries, you can still display information for the customer if you know the customer code. Sales orders cannot be entered for inactive customers. If you want a customer to appear in Lookup windows, but restrict entry of sales orders, clear the Allowed to Place Orders check box for the customer on the Credit Options tab in Customer Credit Rule Maintenance.
