Purpose

Replace one product with another product.

Overview

Use Product Override Maintenance to temporarily replace one product with another product. You can order the product desired, but will be redirected to the replacement product. All information, with the exception of the customer’s product code for the product, if supplied, is stored for the replacement product (as if you had ordered the replacement product). This includes the determination of pricing, allocation, backorders, and other factors.

Example You sell coolers and the new model is a little different than the old model. You don’t have any of the new model in stock, but have plenty of the old model that you are phasing out. Certain customers are sending in orders for the new model, but will accept the old model in the interim period of time until the new model arrives. You would set up the new model with a product override of the old model.

Note When the product override is not available, it can be backordered, unless you mark it as discontinued. If it is marked discontinued, it will not automatically revert back to the original product.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button	Description
Exit	Click this button to close the Product Override Maintenance window.
New	Click this button to create a new product override for the selected product.
Update	Click this button to update the selected product override.
Delete	Click this button to delete the selected product override.
OK	Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
Cancel	Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
First	Click this button to display the first product.
Prev	Click this button to display the previous product.
Next	Click this button to display the next product.
Last	Click this button to display the last product.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Product Code Being Overridden	Enter a product code for a product you want to have temporarily replaced by another product, or click the Lookup button to select a product code.
Name (Product)	Enter a product name for a product you want to have temporarily replaced by another product, or click the Lookup button to select a product name.
Ignore Dates If No Inventory	Select this check box to ignore the entered product override date range if the product that is being overridden has no inventory. If this check box is selected, and the product that is being overridden has no available quantity and no on order quantity for a specific location, the override is used (regardless of the date range that is set up). This check box is cleared by default.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Override by	Select one of the following options: All - This override applies to all customers. Customer Division - This override applies to only customers in a selected customer division. Customer - This override applies to only a selected customer.
Override Option	Select one of the following options for the product override: Always Override - Always replace the original product with the override product (regardless of inventory levels). Available Inventory / Ask - If there is available inventory for the override product, prompt the user whether or not to replace the original product during sales order entry. If there is no available inventory for the override product, leave the original product on the sales order. NOTE For imported orders, this option functions the same as if you selected the Available Inventory / Don't Ask option. Available Inventory / Don't Ask - If there is available inventory for the override product, replace the original product automatically during sales order entry. If there is no available inventory for the override product, leave the original product on the sales order.
Customer Division	Enter a customer division ID for the product override, or click the Lookup button to select a customer division ID. This field is only available if you select the Customer Division radio button.
Description	This field displays the description of the selected customer division. This field is only available if you select the Customer Division radio button.
Customer Code	Enter a customer code for the product override, or click the Lookup button to select a customer code. This field is only enabled if you select the Customer radio button.
Name (Customer)	Enter a customer name for the product override, or click the Lookup button to select a customer name. This field is only enabled if you select the Customer radio button.
Override Product Code	Enter the replacement product code, or click the Lookup button to select a replacement product code.
Name (Override Product)	Enter the replacement product name, or click the Lookup button to select a replacement product name.
From	Enter the first date in a range of effective order dates for the product override, or click the drop-down arrow to select a date.
To	Enter the last date in a range of effective order dates for the product override, or click the drop-down arrow to select a date.
Effect in Order Entry	Select one of the following options to control how the product override affects orders created in Order Entry: Display Warning - Display a warning message in Order Entry for the product override. Always Override - Do not display a warning message in Order Entry for the product override. No Effect - Do not use the product override in Order Entry. It is only used for DRP.
Permanent Replacement	Select this check box to permanently replace the product. If you select this check box, DRP forecast creation is calculated by adding the forecast sales for the override product and the product being overridden. This check box is only enabled if you select the All radio button.
Product Overrides	This grid displays all product overrides for the selected product.
