Purpose

Define and maintain sales tax jurisdictions.

Overview

Use Sales Tax Jurisdiction Maintenance to define geographical taxing jurisdictions for sales taxes.

Note You can also import sales tax jurisdictions in Sales Tax Jurisdiction Import.

Jurisdictions can be sales tax jurisdictions (tax jurisdictions) or filing jurisdictions. Sales tax jurisdictions are jurisdictions where sales tax is assessed. Filing jurisdictions are jurisdictions where taxes are actually filed. For more information, see Sales Tax FAQ.

Note A customer ship-to address can only have one sales tax jurisdiction or be assigned a tax-exempt status (requiring a state tax exemption number).
