Purpose

Set up and maintain sample reasons.

Overview

Use Sample Reason Maintenance to view, create, edit, and delete sample reason codes, which are used to specify the reason an order line item is being entered for samples.

Creating Sample Reasons

To create a sample reason:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter a sample reason code in the Sample Reason Code field.

  3. Enter a description of the sample reason in the Short Description field.

  4. Select options for the sample reason code.

  5. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The sample reason code is created.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Sample Reason Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new sample reason.

Update

Click this button to update the selected sample reason.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected sample reason. You cannot delete a sample reason if it is associated with an order line item.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available if you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available if you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first sample reason.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous sample reason.

Next

Click this button to display the next sample reason.

Last

Click this button to display the last sample reason.

Fields and Buttons

Sample Reason Code

Enter a sample reason code, or click the Lookup button to select an existing sample reason code.

Short Description

Enter a description of the sample reason.

Sample Frequency Days

Enter the number of days a customer must wait after receiving a sample of a product (for an order line item that uses the sample reason) before the customer can receive a sample of the same product again. This is 0 by default. If this is 0, there is no limit to how often the customer can receive a sample of the product for order line items that use the sample reason. This overrides the sample frequency days entered for products in Product Maintenance. This field is only enabled if the Require Customer Linkage check box is selected.

Require Customer Linkage

Select this check box if the customer that is receiving the sample must be entered for order line items that use the sample reason. This check box is selected by default.

Allow Billback Rate Override

Select this check box to allow the supplier billback percentage to be changed for order line items that use the sample reason. This check box is selected by default.

Order Import Default

Select this check box if the sample reason is the default for imported sample orders. This check box can only be selected for one sample reason.
