Purpose

Set up and maintain Scheduling Assistant queues.

Overview

Use Scheduling Assistant Queue Maintenance to create, edit, and delete Scheduling Assistant queues. These queues can be used to group Scheduling Assistant tasks by function, and by specific users.

EXAMPLE You can create a queue that is dedicated to EDI tasks, and only allow EDI users to use the queue.

A Default queue is automatically created. This queue can be used by all users and all system IDs.

Creating Scheduling Assistant Queues

To create a Scheduling Assistant queue:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter a name for the queue in the Queue Name field.

  3. If you do not want the queue to be active, clear the Active check box.

  4. Enter a description of the queue in the Description field.

  5. Enter the number of dedicated workers for the queue in the Dedicated Workers field.

  6. If the queue will be used only for specific system IDs, clear the All System IDs check box, and select the system IDs for the queue.

  7. Click the Valid Users tab.

  8. Select user groups and/or users who are allowed to use the queue.

  9. Click the Priority tab.

  10. Select a queue in the grid, and click the up or down arrow button to change the priority for the queue.

  11. Click the OK ribbon button. The Scheduling Assistant queue is created.

Exit

Click this button to close the Scheduling Assistant Queue Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new Scheduling Assistant queue.

Update

Click this button to update the selected Scheduling Assistant queue.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected Scheduling Assistant queue. You cannot delete queues that are assigned tasks, and you cannot delete the Default queue.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first Scheduling Assistant queue.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous Scheduling Assistant queue.

Next

Click this button to display the next Scheduling Assistant queue.

Last

Click this button to display the last Scheduling Assistant queue.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Queue Name

Enter the name of the Scheduling Assistant queue, or click the Lookup button to select a previously created Scheduling Assistant queue name.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Active

Select this check box if the Scheduling Assistant queue is active. New tasks cannot be assigned to an inactive queue. This check box is selected by default.

NOTE You cannot clear this check box for the Default queue.

Description

Enter a description of the Scheduling Assistant queue.

Dedicated Workers

Enter the number of Scheduling Assistant workers available for the Scheduling Assistant queue. The number of tasks that can be run at the same time is based on the number of workers. The total workers associated with all queues must be less than the licensed number of workers. If only one worker is licensed, 0 is entered in this field, and it is disabled.

NOTE One worker license is always not dedicated to a queue, so it can perform tasks for queues that have no dedicated workers.

All System IDs

Select this check box if the Scheduling Assistant queue can be used for all system IDs. This check box is selected by default.

System ID

Enter a system ID that you want to associate with the Scheduling Assistant queue, or click the Lookup button to select a system ID. This field is only enabled if you clear the All System IDs check box.

Add

Click this button to add the system ID entered in the System ID field to the System IDs grid.

Company Name

This field displays the company name of the system ID entered in the System ID field.

Remove

Click this button to remove the selected system ID from the System IDs grid.

System IDs

This grid displays system IDs associated with the Scheduling Assistant queue. Only users for these system IDs can use the Scheduling Assistant queue.

Valid Users Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

User Group

Enter a user group that you want to allow to use the Scheduling Assistant queue, or click the Lookup button to select a user group.

Add

Click this button to add the user group entered in the User Group field to the User Groups grid.

System ID

This field displays the system ID of the user group entered in the User Group field.

Remove

Click this button to remove the selected user group from the User Groups grid.

User Groups

This grid displays user groups associated with the Scheduling Assistant queue. These user groups can use the Scheduling Assistant queue.

NOTE You can only assign user groups to a queue for system IDs associated with the queue.

User ID

Enter a user ID that you want to allow to use the Scheduling Assistant queue, or click the Lookup button to select a user ID.

Add

Click this button to add the user ID entered in the User ID field to the Users grid.

User Name

Enter a user name that you want to allow to use the Scheduling Assistant queue, or click the Lookup button to select a user name.

Remove

Click this button to remove the selected user from the Users grid.

Users

This grid displays users associated with the Scheduling Assistant queue. These users can use the Scheduling Assistant queue.

NOTE You can only assign users to a queue for system IDs associated with the queue.

Scheduling Assistant Queues

This grid displays all the Scheduling Assistant queues, and allows you to set up the priority of the queues. The priority controls the order in which Scheduling Assistant tasks are performed.

Click this button to move the selected Scheduling Assistant queue up one position in the queue priority.

Click this button to move the selected Scheduling Assistant queue down one position in the queue priority.
