Purpose

Set up and maintain driver commission codes.

Overview

Use Driver Commission Maintenance to create, edit, and delete driver commission codes. Driver commission codes control the commission rates paid to drivers for delivery and pickup of products.

Note Before setting up driver commission rates for pickups, set up driver pickup codes in Driver Pickup Code Maintenance.

Driver commissions are paid based on whether a driver is working alone, working with an assistant, or is an assistant of another driver. Thus, for each driver commission code, you can set up rates for each of these scenarios. Additionally, for deliveries, you can set up different rates for the first load of the day and for subsequent loads.

Driver commissions are calculated as the base rates set up on the Base Rates tab added to the total of the units multiplied by the unit rates entered on the Delivery Rates and/or Pickup Rates tabs. For deliveries, a delivery multiplier can also be set up for heavier products, which is multiplied by the delivered units. Thus, the total driver commission is calculated as follows:

Creating Driver Commission Codes

To create a driver commission code:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter a range of valid dates for the commission code in the Start Date and End Date fields.

  3. If the commission code is only for a specific driver commission group, shipping location, and/or route, clear the appropriate All check box, and enter a driver commission group, shipping location, and or route.

  4. Enter the base commission rates for the driver commission code. You can set up rates for solo drivers, drivers who are working with another driver, and assistant drivers. You can also set up rates for the first load of the day and subsequent loads.

  5. Enter the minimum units per stop for the driver commission rate in the Minimum Units Per Stop field.

  6. Click the Delivery Rates tab.

  7. Select a method for calculating delivery commissions.

  8. Enter the unit rates and/or multipliers for calculating the delivery commissions. You can set up rates for solo drivers, drivers who are working with another driver, and assistant drivers. You can also set up rates for the first load of the day and subsequent loads.

  9. Click the Pickup Rates tab.

  10. Enter the rates for calculating pickup commissions for each driver pickup code. You can set up rates for solo drivers, drivers who are working with another driver, and assistant drivers.

  11. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The driver commission code is created, and is displayed in the Driver Commission Code field.

Click this button to close the Driver Commission Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new driver commission code.

Update

Click this button to edit the selected driver commission code.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected driver commission code.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first driver commission code.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous driver commission code.

Next

Click this button to display the next driver commission code.

Last

Click this button to display the last driver commission code.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Driver Commission Code

Enter an existing driver commission code, or click the Lookup button to select an existing driver commission code. When you are creating a new driver commission code, this field is disabled and the code is automatically assigned a sequential value.

Start Date

Enter a start date for the driver commission code, or click the drop-down arrow to select a start date.

End Date

Enter an end date for the driver commission code, or click the drop-down arrow to select an end date.

All (Driver Groups)

Select this check box if the driver commission code is for all driver commission groups. This check box is selected by default.

Driver Group

Enter a driver commission group for the driver commission code, or click the Lookup button to select a driver commission group. This field is only enabled if you clear the All check box to the left of it. For information on setting up driver commission groups, see Driver Commission Group Maintenance.

All (Shipping Locations)

Select this check box if the driver commission code is for all shipping locations. This check box is selected by default.

Shipping Location

Enter a shipping location prefix or name for the driver commission code, or click one of the Lookup buttons to select a shipping location prefix or name. These fields are only enabled if you clear the All check box to the left of it. For information on setting up shipping locations, see Location Maintenance.

All (Routes)

Select this check box if the driver commission code is for all routes. This check box is selected by default.

Route

Enter a route for the driver commission code, or click the Lookup button to select a route. This field is only enabled if you clear the All check box to the left of it. For information on setting up routes, see Fleet Delivery Route Maintenance.

Base Rates Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Driver Base (Solo)

Enter the base amount for the driver commission code for drivers working alone.

Second Load Base (Solo)

Enter the second load base amount for the driver commission code for drivers working alone. This is the base amount used for deliveries after the first delivery of a day.

Driver Base (Shared)

Enter the base amount for the driver commission code for drivers working with an assistant.

Driver Second Load Bonus (Shared)

Enter the second load base amount for the driver commission code for drivers working with an assistant. This is the base amount used for deliveries after the first delivery of a day.

Assistant Base (Shared)

Enter the base amount for the driver commission code for assistant drivers.

Assistant Second Load Bonus (Shared)

Enter the second load base amount for the driver commission code for assistant drivers. This is the base amount used for deliveries after the first delivery of a day.

Minimum Units Per Stop

Enter the minimum number of units per stop required for the driver commission code.

Delivery Rates Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Delivery Commission Based on

Select whether delivery commissions are based on a display unit of measure or a multiplier of a unit of measure.

Note The label for the second radio button is based on the label set up for product user-defined field 14.

Multipliers

Enter multipliers for calculating delivery commissions. Set up a multiplier for heavier products that are assigned higher commission rates.

Note The rows in this grid correspond to the values set up for product user-defined field 14. For information on setting up valid user-defined field values, see User Defined Fields Maintenance.

This grid is only available if you do not select the Display U/M radio button.

Example If commission for kegs of a product are paid at 5 times the normal rate entered in the Delivery Rates grid, enter 5 for the Keg unit of measure.

Click this button to add a row to the Delivery Rates grid.

Click this button to remove the selected row from the Delivery Rates grid.

Delivery Rates

Enter delivery commission rates (per unit) for various quantities of the display unit of measure associated with delivered products. Each row corresponds to a quantity break for which you want to set up delivery rates. You can set up the quantity break in the Break Unit column of the grid (except for the first row, which is always set to 0 so that you can set up rates for all quantities less than the quantity break for the second row). You can click the button with the plus icon to add a new row to this grid, or click the button with the minus icon to remove a selected row from the grid.
