Companion Class Maintenance

Purpose

Set up and maintain companion classes.

Overview

Use Companion Class Maintenance to create, edit, and delete companion classes, and to assign products/locations to companion classes. You can also assign products to companion classes on the Selling tab in Product Maintenance or Product Location Maintenance. For more information, see companion products.

Creating Companion Classes

To create a companion class:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter an ID for the companion class in the Companion Class ID field.

  3. Enter a name for the companion class in the Name field.

  4. Enter a description of the companion class in the Description field.

  5. If you want to assign products/locations to the companion class, enter a product code or name, double-click the locations in the Available Locations grid, and then click the Add button. Repeat this for all products/locations you want to add to the companion class.

  6. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The companion class is created.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Companion Class Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new companion class.

Update

Click this button to update the selected companion class.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected companion class. You cannot delete a companion class that is associated with a product/location or product.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first companion class.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous companion class.

Next

Click this button to display the next companion class.

Last

Click this button to display the last companion class.

Fields and Buttons

Description

Companion Class ID

Enter a companion class ID, or click the Lookup button to select a companion class ID.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Name

Enter a name for the companion class.

Description

Enter a description of the companion class.

Product Code

Enter a product code to add to the companion class, or click the Lookup button to select a product code.

Product Name

Enter a product name to add to the companion class, or click the Lookup button to select a product code.

Available Locations

This grid displays locations for which you can add the selected product to the companion class. Double-click a location to add it to the Selected Locations grid.

Click this button to add all locations in the Available Locations grid to the Selected Locations grid.

Click this button to add the selected location in the Available Locations grid to the Selected Locations grid.

Click this button to remove the selected location from the Selected Locations grid.

Click this button to remove all locations from the Selected Locations grid.

Selected Locations

This grid displays locations for which to add the selected product to the companion class. Double-click a location to remove it from this grid.

Add

Click this button to add the product/location(s) to the companion class.

Remove

Click this button to remove the selected product/location in the Products/Locations grid from the companion class.

Products/Locations

This grid displays products/locations for the companion class. Double-click a product/location to remove it from the companion class.
