Companion Product

A companion product is a product that always accompanies another product when it is ordered.

Example For every eyeglass frame ordered, the corresponding case is ordered as well.

For information on setting up companion products, see Companion Product Maintenance. To use companion products, select the Use Companion Products check box in Customer Service Control Maintenance.

The software allows you to use the same product in different companion groupings (as either a base product or as an actual companion product) and you can select different price methods for it.

Example The following companion products are set up:

Order 1 unit of Product A, get X units of Product B (free/regular price/discount/special price).
Order 1 unit of product C, get Y units of Product B (free/regular price/discount/special price).
Order 1 unit of product D, get Z units of product A (free/regular price/discount/special price).

If you enter product D on an order, only product A is added to the order automatically. Product B is not added because companion products of companion products are not automatically added.
