An excess alert indicates you will have excess inventory for a product for which you have an open purchase order (for which the final change date has not expired). Excess alerts warn you that you may want to change purchase order delivery dates to prevent excess inventory.
Excess alerts are created based on settings for excess alert methods. For more information, see DRP - Excess Alert Method FAQ.
The system creates excess alerts when you create actual planned receipts in Forecast Create or Actual Planned Receipt Create. You can view excess alerts in Buyer Task Management.
Excess alerts are created based on the projected excess and desired on-hand quantities, which can be viewed for specific products on the DRP Schedule Management tab in Product DRP Management.
Note Actual planned receipt quantities are excluded from the projected excess calculation.
