Transfer Orders FAQ

Question: I am trying to create a transfer order for two newly created locations, but I cannot select these locations for my transfer order. How can I select the locations?

Answer: The locations that were defined in Location Maintenance should be defined as not only sales locations, but also as shipping locations. This allows you to transfer merchandise to and from the specified locations.

Question: What is the purpose of the Transfer Sales and Transfer Buy general ledger accounts?

Answer: Some companies want to keep track of how much was transferred out of one location (Transfer Sales), and how much was received by other locations to which products were transferred (Transfer Buy).

EXAMPLE If a main warehouse suppliers three other satellite warehouses, you may want to know how much was transferred out of the main warehouse, and how much was transferred to each satellite warehouse.
