General Ledger Forward Balance Entry
Enter forward balances into a new system.
Use General Ledger Forward Balance Entry to enter a forward balance for each account after the general ledger account structure has been set up in Ledger Maintenance. Any or all of the four opening balances can be entered (credit, debit, tax-only credit, tax-only debit). This provides an alternative to making general ledger journal entries to accounts. The forward balances simulate the accounts being rolled over from the previous year.
To enter forward balances:
If your company uses consolidation ledgers, verify the ledger ID for which you want to enter forward balances is entered in the Ledger ID field.
Enter a general ledger account number in the G/L Account field.
Click the Update button in the ribbon.
Enter the opening balances.
Click the OK button in the ribbon.

This field displays the year for which you are entering balances. |

Enter a ledger ID for which you are entering balances, or click the Lookup button to select a ledger ID. Note This field is only available if at least one consolidation ledger is set up. |

Enter the account number for the general ledger account for which you want to enter balances, or click the Lookup button to select an account. |

This field displays the type of the selected account. |

This field indicates whether the selected account defaults to credits (CR) or debits (DR). |

This field displays the category of the selected account. |

Enter the opening debit balance for the account. This field is only enabled after you click the Update button in the ribbon. |

Enter the opening credit balance for the account. This field is only enabled after you click the Update button in the ribbon. |

Enter the tax-only credit balance of the selected account. This field is only enabled after you click the Update button in the ribbon. |

Enter the tax-only debit balance of the selected account. This field is only enabled after you click the Update button in the ribbon. |
