Purpose

Set up and maintain Product Lifecycle Management module options.

Overview

Use Lifecycle Control Maintenance to set up general options for the Product Lifecycle Management module. These options control how product project numbers are created.

Setting Up Product Lifecycle Management Settings

To set up default settings for the Product Lifecycle Management module:

  1. Click the Update button in the ribbon.

  2. Select default settings.

  3. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The module settings are updated.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Lifecycle Control Maintenance window.

Update

Click this button to display Lifecycle Rule Entry, which allows you to update the selected rule.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the Update Sequence or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the Update Sequence or Delete button in the ribbon.

Description

Auto Product Project Code assignment

Select this check box to automatically assign product project codes to new product projects created in Product Project Maintenance. If this check box is selected, the product project code entered in the Next Product Project Code field is used for the next created product project. After each product project is created, the value for the next product project is determined by the value entered in the Increment by field.

Allow Override of Product Project Code

Select this check box to allow users to change automatically assigned product project codes in Product Project Maintenance.

Increment by

Enter a value by which to increase the next automatically assigned product project code. This value is only used if the Auto Product Project Code assignment check box is selected.

Example You enter 10 in this field and 10000 is entered in the Next Product Project Code field. You create a new product project, and it is assigned 10000 as the product project code. Then, you create another product project, and it is assigned 10010 as the product project code.

Next Product Project Code

Enter the value to use for the next automatically generated product project code. This value is only used if the Auto Product Project Code assignment check box is selected.
