Purpose

Launch specific workflows.

Overview

Use Lifecycle Workflow Launch to manually assign a specific workflow definition to a workflow. When you launch a workflow, the workflow status changes to Assigned.

Example A new product must be tested before being sold. You would manually launch a workflow for the product to perform the tasks required for it.

Launching Workflows

To launch a workflow:

  1. Enter a workflow type for which you want to launch a workflow in the Workflow Type field.

  2. Enter a workflow level for which you want to launch a workflow in the Workflow Level field.

  3. Click the Show Data button in the ribbon. Workflow definitions for the workflow type and level appear in the Workflow Definitions grid.

  4. Select a workflow definition that you want to use.

  5. Click the Launch Workflow button in the ribbon. The Lifecycle Key Entry window appears.

  6. Enter the reference number for the workflow.

  7. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The workflow is created.

Click this button to close the Lifecycle Workflow Launch window.

Show Data

Click this button to display workflow definitions for a specific workflow type and workflow level.

Launch Workflow

Click this button to display Lifecycle Key Entry, which allows you to enter a reference number for a workflow to which you want to assign the selected workflow definition.

Workflow Type

Enter a workflow type for which to display workflow definitions, or click the Lookup button to select a workflow type.

Workflow Level

Enter a workflow level for which to display workflow definitions, or click the Lookup button to select a workflow level.

Workflow Definitions

This grid displays workflow definitions for the selected workflow type and workflow level after you click the Show Data button in the ribbon.
