Purpose

Review, release, and edit orders on margin hold.

Overview

Use Margin Hold Management to review, edit, and release orders that have been placed on margin hold.

Note An order will not be released for fulfillment if there are any lines on margin hold.

A product can be set up for gross margin testing on the Selling tab in Product Maintenance by selecting the Place on Hold radio button, and entering a minimum and maximum margin percentage in the Min Sales Margin % and Max Sales Margin % fields. For more information, see Gross Margin Testing FAQ.

Example Product A’s cost is $10, and margins are assigned as minimum = 15%, maximum = 55%. This implies Product A should not be sold below the minimum ($11.76 or less) or above the maximum ($22.22 or more).

In Order Entry, Product A is sold at a price that is either above or below the stated margin percentages. The order entry person accepts the warning messages indicating Product A’s margin fell below the acceptable minimum, or is above the acceptable maximum and continues to process the order. The order is placed on margin hold.
