This general ledger account is used for stock adjustments and inventory reconciliation. It represents the total cost of the change in the value of the inventory.

Inventory Posting: Inventory (Dr) = Inventory Adj. Expense (Cr) OR

Inventory (Cr) = Inventory Adj. Expense (Dr).

Adjustment Expense

Inventory adjustments and physical inventory

This general ledger account is used for stock adjustments and inventory reconciliation. It represents the total cost of a product's stock adjustment.

Inventory Adjustment Posting: Inventory (Dr) = Inventory Adj. Expense (Cr) OR

Inventory (Cr) = Inventory Adj. Expense (Dr).

In Transit

Inventory adjustments for one-step inventory location transfers

This general ledger account is used from the location from which a one-step transfer occurred during inventory adjustment.

Inventory Adjustment Posting (one-step inventory location transfer):

  • Inventory (transfer-from location) (Cr) = In Transit (transfer-from location) (Dr)

  • Inventory (transfer-to location) (Dr) = In Transit (transfer-from location) (Cr)

Note If the To Location radio button is selected for the One Step Location Transfer Cost Basis option in Warehouse Management Control Maintenance, any difference in costs is posted to the inventory cost write-down account.
