Purpose

Enter, view, edit, or delete shipper interfaces.

Overview

Use Shipper Interface Maintenance to create and manage shipper interfaces for exporting package information to third-party shipping software. You can export package information using a shipper interface in End of Day Package Export. You can specify the shipper interface that each shipper uses in Shipper Maintenance.

Creating Shipper Interfaces

To create a shipper interface:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter a shipper interface name in the Shipper Interface field.

  3. Enter a location prefix or name in the Location Prefix or Location Name field, or click the Lookup button to select a location prefix or name.

  4. Enter detailed information for the shipper interface, such as the programs that are used to export label data and the shipping software. This information should follow the formatting and software requirements for the shipper and shipping labels.

  5. If you have set up user-defined fields for shipper interfaces, enter the appropriate information for the shipper interface in the User Defined 1 - User Defined 10 fields.

  6. If the shipper interface is for ProShip and you need to send custom parameters to ProShip, click the Custom Parameters tab, and add the parameters to the shipper interface.

  7. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The shipper interface is created.

Click this button to create a new shipper interface.

Update

Click this button to update the selected shipper interface.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected shipper interface.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first shipper interface.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous shipper interface.

Next

Click this button to display the next shipper interface.

Last

Click this button to display the last shipper interface.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Shipper Interface

Enter the shipper interface name, or click the Lookup button to select a shipper interface name.

Location Prefix

Enter the location prefix for the shipper interface, or click the Lookup button to select a location prefix.

Location Name

Enter the location name for the shipper interface, or click the Lookup button to select a location name.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Enter a description of the shipper interface.

Interface Type

Click the Lookup button to select one of the following shipper interface types:

  • FedEx (FSMS)

  • Manual

  • ProShip

  • UPS Cloud

  • UPS WorldShip

ProShip is only available if you have licensed Apprise Shipment Manager.

NOTE For information on setting up Apprise Shipment Manager, refer to the Apprise Shipment Manager Installation and Setup Guide. To use Apprise Shipment Manager, you must have an Apprise Shipment Manager license.

NOTE For information on setting up UPS cloud-based shipper integration, refer to the Apprise UPS Integration Guide.

Package Extract Program

Enter the Apprise program to run for extracting package data for the shipper interface. The program must be located in a folder that is included in the Progress propath. This defaults based on the selected interface type.

Extract Output Path\File

Enter the output folder path and file name for the extracted package data.

Second Extract Output Path\File

Enter a second output folder path and file name for the extracted package data (to store a backup of the data).

NOTE This path is only used if pkgdtexp.p is entered in the Package Extract Program field.

End of Day Program

Enter the program file name for the shipper interface end of day program. This defaults based on the selected interface type.

End of Day Output Path\File

Enter the folder path and file name for the end of day output file for the shipper interface. This file is output when you use End of Day Package Export.

Tracking Number Program

Enter the tracking number program for the shipper interface.

Tracking Label Program

Enter the tracking label program for the shipper interface. This defaults based on the selected interface type.

Charge Type

Enter the additional charge type for the shipper interface, or click the Lookup button to select a charge type.

Accumulate Charges

Select this check box to accumulate charges from the last package record for each package for each pick demand number (package charges).

Clear this check box to use only the charge for the last record for each pick demand number (shipment charges).

User Defined 1-10

Enter information for user-defined fields for the shipper interface. The labels for these fields change based on the selected interface type.

If ProShip is selected for the Interface Type field, enter an unformatted placeholder phone number to use for ship-to addresses that do not have an associated phone number in the Phone Placeholder field.

Custom Parameters Tab Fields and Buttons

NOTE This tab is only enabled for ProShip shipper interfaces.

Field or Button

Description

Parameter

Enter a custom parameter name. This name is passed to ProShip.

Destination Country

Click the Lookup button to select the destination country for the custom parameter. The parameter is only sent to ProShip if shipping to this country. You can select All, International (shipping to a country that is different from the ship-from country), or a valid country set up in Apprise.

Description

Enter a description of the custom parameter.

Container

Click the Lookup button to select the container for the custom parameter. This determines where in the XML data the custom parameter is located when it is sent to ProShip.

Carrier

Click the Lookup button to select the carrier used for the custom parameter. If this field is blank, the custom parameter is used for all carriers.

Value Type

Select whether the value for the parameter is a static or dynamic value.

Service

Click the Lookup button to select the service used for the custom parameter. If this field is blank, the custom parameter is used for all services.

Value

If the Static radio button is selected, enter a value for the custom parameter.

If the Dynamic radio button is selected, click the Lookup button to select a value for the custom parameter.

Priority

Enter a priority value between 0-100 for the custom parameter. Lower values are higher priority. If there are multiple custom parameters with the same name that apply to a transaction, only the custom parameter with the highest priority is used.

Used for

Select whether the custom parameter is used for shipment requests, rating requests, or both.

Add

Click this button to add the custom parameter to the shipper interface.

Remove

Click this button to remove the selected parameter in the Custom Parameters grid from the shipper interface.

Custom Parameters

This grid displays custom parameters added for the shipper interface. Double-click a parameter to edit it in the fields above the grid.
