Purpose

Define a shipper’s zone table.

Overview

Use Shipper Zone Maintenance to determine the zone to which products are shipped. Shipper zones are specific to each carrier. Shipper zones are determined by a beginning and ending ZIP code and are assigned a zone name or identification. Carriers have zone charts by geographic shipping locations and ZIP codes that determine zones. Along with this information, a charge is associated to the zone. Shipper Rate Maintenance stores rates by shipper ID, the setup of which is the final step in creating a freight calculation record. For more information, see Freight Maintenance Overview.

Creating Shipper Zones

To create a shipper zone:

Enter a location prefix or name in the Location Prefix or Name field.
Select a record type (Shipper or Shipping Method) for the shipper zone.
Enter the shipper ID or shipping method in the Shipper ID or Shipping Method field.
Click the New button in the ribbon.
Enter a range of ZIP codes for the shipper zone in the Beginning ZIP and Ending ZIP fields.
Enter a name for the shipping zone in the Shipping Zone field.
Click the OK button in the ribbon to save the shipper zone. The shipper zone is created, and displays in the Shipper Zones grid.

Example For Location 01, New Jersey, Shipper ID UPS Ground, the following are set up:

Updating and Deleting Shipper Zones

To update or delete a shipper zone:

Enter a location prefix or name in the Location Prefix or Name field.
Select a record type (Shipper or Shipping Method) for the shipper zone.
Enter the shipper ID or shipping method in the Shipper ID or Shipping Method field.
Select a shipper zone in the Shipper Zones grid.
Click the Update or Delete button in the ribbon.
If you are updating, make changes to the shipper zone.
Click the OK button in the ribbon to save or delete the shipper zone. The update or deletion is completed.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button	Description
Exit	Click this button to close the Shipper Zone Maintenance window.
New	Click this button to create a new shipper zone.
Update	Click this button to update the selected shipper zone.
Delete	Click this button to delete the selected shipper zone.
OK	Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
Cancel	Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
First	Click this button to display shipper zones for the first shipper or shipping method.
Prev	Click this button to display shipper zones for the previous shipper or shipping method.
Next	Click this button to display shipper zones for the next shipper or shipping method.
Last	Click this button to display shipper zones for the last shipper or shipping method.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Location Prefix	Enter the location prefix of the warehouse shipping location for the shipper zone, or click the Lookup button to select a location prefix. If your company maintains more than one shipping location, you must define shipper zones for each location.
Name	Enter the location name of the warehouse shipping location for the shipper zone, or click the Lookup button to select a location name. If your company maintains more than one shipping location, you must define shipper zones for each location.
Record Type	Select whether to view, create, edit, or delete shipper zones for a specific shipper or shipping method.
Shipper ID	Enter a shipper ID for the shipper zone, or click the Lookup button to select a shipper ID. This field is only available if you select the Shipper radio button. For information on setting up shipper ID's, see Shipper Maintenance.
Shipping Method	Click the Lookup button to select the shipping method, air or ground, for the shipper zone. This field is only available if you select the Shipping Method radio button.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Beginning ZIP	Enter the first ZIP code in a range of ZIP codes for the shipper zone.
Ending ZIP	Enter the last ZIP code in a range of ZIP codes for the shipper zone.
Shipping Zone	Enter a name for the combination of warehouse, shipper/shipping method, and ZIP code range. This can be a number that corresponds to zones used by the shipper.
Shipper Zones	This grid displays all existing shipper zones for the selected location and shipper/shipping method. Double-click a shipper zone to display Shipper Rate Maintenance, which allows you to view, create, edit, and delete shipper rates for the selected shipper zone.
