User Group Maintenance

Purpose

Set up and maintain user groups.

Overview

Use User Group Maintenance to create, edit, and delete groups of users. You can use user groups to quickly apply settings to multiple users at the same time. For information on creating users, see User Profile Maintenance.

Creating User Groups

To create a user group:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter the name of the user group in the User Group field.

  3. Add users to the user group.

  4. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The user group is created.

To set security access for the group in Set Default Security Access Maintenance, click the Set Default Access button in the ribbon. To change the group's access to programs in User or Group Security Maintenance, click the Grant Program Access button in the ribbon.

Deleting User Groups

To delete a user group:

  1. Enter the user group in the User Group field.

  2. Click the Delete button in the ribbon.

  3. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The user group is deleted.

Exit

Click this button to close the User Group Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new user group.

Update

Click this button to update the selected user group.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected user group.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first user group.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous user group.

Next

Click this button to display the next user group.

Last

Click this button to display the last user group.

Set Default Access

Click this button to display Set Default Security Access Maintenance, which allows you to grant, revoke, or restore security access to programs for a user group or a specific user.

Grant Program Access

Click this button to display User or Group Security Maintenance, which allows you to change the selected user group's access to programs.

Enter a user group, or click the Lookup button to select an existing user group.

Available Users

This grid displays all users available to be assigned to the selected user group. Double-click a user to add the user to the Selected Users grid. You can use the Shift or Ctrl keys to select a range and/or multiple users.

The In Groups column shows up to five groups to which the user is assigned. If the user is assigned to more than five groups, Many appears in the In Groups column.

Add All

Click this button to add all users in the Available Users grid to the Selected Users grid.

Add

Click this button to add the selected user in the Available Users grid to the Selected Users grid.

Remove

Click this button to remove the selected user from the Selected Users grid.

Remove All

Click this button to remove all users from the Selected Users grid.

Selected Users

This grid displays all users selected for the selected user group. Double-click a user to remove the user from this grid. You can use the Shift or Ctrl keys to select a range and/or multiple users.

The In Groups column shows up to five groups to which the user is assigned. If the user is assigned to more than five groups, Many appears in the In Groups column.
