Menu Path: System Administration VAT Setup VAT Rule Maintenance
Set up and maintain value-added tax (VAT) rules.
Display VAT rules.
Use VAT Rule Maintenance to create, update, delete, and view VAT rules that handle exceptions and special situations for output VAT calculations. Each VAT rule is associated with a unique combination of VAT ID, VAT class code, and VAT group code. When output VAT is calculated for this combination, the VAT rate set up for the VAT rule is used instead of the rate set up for the VAT class.
To create a VAT rule:
Click the New button in the ribbon.
Enter a date range for the VAT rule (if necessary) in the From and To fields.
Enter your company's VAT ID for the VAT rule in the VAT ID field.
Enter a VAT class code for the VAT rule in the VAT Class Code field. The VAT rate for the VAT class appears in the Rate field.
Enter a VAT group code for the VAT rule in the VAT Group Code field.
If VAT will not be assessed for the VAT rule, clear the VAT Taxable check box, and enter a VAT exempt reason code in the VAT Exempt Reason Code field.
Select the Override Rate check box and enter a VAT rate for the rule. If the VAT rate for the rule is zero, select the Zero Rated check box.
Click the OK button in the ribbon. The VAT rule is created.
