Purpose

Overview

Use Work Order Allocate to display all component products that have been backordered due to lack of sufficient inventory. A work order associated with such component products has a work order status of Open and the Backordered check box is selected for the work order in Work Order Maintenance. After backordered work orders are released, the work orders can be printed and you can go through the process of building finished goods to be sold.

Exit

Click this button to close the Work Order Allocate window.

Show Data

Click this button to display backordered components for the selected location.

Release

Click this button to release all work orders for which a release quantity is entered in the Work Orders grid. You can only release a work order if the quantity in the Qty. to Release column equals the quantity in the Qty. Backordered column.

Release Work Order

Click this button to release the selected work order in the Work Orders grid. You can only release a work order if the quantity in the Qty. to Release column equals the quantity in the Qty. Backordered column.

Notes

Click this button to display Notes Entry, which allows you to view and enter notes for a selected product.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Location Prefix

Enter a location prefix for which to release backordered work orders, or click the Lookup button to select a location prefix. This field defaults to the default location entered for your user ID in User Extended Options.

Name

Enter a location name for which to release backordered work orders, or click the Lookup button to select a location name. This field defaults to the default location entered for your user ID in User Extended Options.

Display Only Releasable BO Lines

Select this check box to only display back order lines that can be released. This check box is selected by default.

Backordered Raw Materials

This grid displays backordered component products for the selected location.

Position to

Enter a product code to display at the top of the Backordered Raw Materials grid, and then click the Show Data button in the ribbon to refresh the grid. This field is useful for finding a specific component product if the grid contains a large amount of products. You cannot enter a product name or search name in this field.

Work Orders

This grid displays backordered work orders for the selected product in the Backordered Raw Materials grid. In the Qty. to Release column, enter a quantity of the component product to release for each work order. To change the status of a work order, this quantity must be equal to the quantity in the Qty. Backordered column.

Qty Avail. for Release

This field displays the total on hand quantity in the bin of the component product. The quantity in this field should be greater than or equal to the quantity backordered if a backorder release is to be successful.

Qty Backordered

This field displays the total quantity backordered for work orders displayed in the Work Orders grid. This is the quantity that is to be released.
