Purpose

Set up valid color codes.
Display color information.

Overview

Use Color Maintenance to manage colors for products in the apparel (or similar) industry. A color code is associated with products on the General tab in Product Maintenance, and can be used in Order Entry to facilitate the entry of apparel (or similar) products. The color code is also used by the Business Intelligence module to analyze the performance of product lines, styles, sizes, and colors.

Note You cannot delete a color code if a product is associated with it.

You can also import color codes in Color Import.

Creating Color Codes

To create a color code:

Click the New button in the ribbon.
Enter the color code in the Color Code field.
Enter a name for the color in the Name field.
If you want to control the sequence of displayed color codes, enter a sequence number for the color code in the Sort Seq field.
If you know the National Retail Federation (NRF) standardized code and description for the color code, enter the values in the NRF Color Code and NRF Color Description fields.
If the color code will be used to construct product codes and names in Product Style Create, enter the values associated with the color code in the Product Code Creation Value and Product Name Creation Value fields.
If you do not want the color code to appear in Lookup windows, clear the Display in Lookups check box.
Click the OK button in the ribbon. The color code is created.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button	Description
Exit	Click this button to close the Color Maintenance window.
New	Click this button to create a new color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Update	Click this button to update the selected color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Delete	Click this button to delete the selected color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Show Data	If the Main tab is displayed, click this button to display products for the selected color in the Related Products grid. If the Inquiry tab is displayed, click this button to display color data based on the selected criteria in the Colors grid.
OK	Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
Cancel	Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
First	Click this button to display the first color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Prev	Click this button to display the previous color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Next	Click this button to display the next color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Last	Click this button to display the last color. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Color Code	Enter a color code, or click the Lookup button to select a color code.
Name	Enter a color name, or click the Lookup button to select a color name.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Sort Seq	Enter the sequence number that controls the order of colors in Lookup windows.
Product Code Creation Value	Enter the value to use for the color when constructing a product code in Product Style Create.
Display in Lookups	Select this check box to allow the color to display in the color code Lookup window. Note This option does not affect the color code Lookup window accessed from Color Maintenance.
NRF Color Code	Enter the NRF standardized code for the color (if it exists).
Product Name Creation Value	Enter the value to use for the color when constructing a product name in Product Style Create.
NRF Color Description	Enter the NRF standardized description for the color (if it exists).
Related Products	This grid displays products that are the selected color after you click the Show Data button in the ribbon. Note This grid is cached to improve performance. You cannot sort, filter, group, graph, or summarize data in this grid. Double-click a product to display Product Maintenance, which allows you to view and update information for the product. Note If you are not authorized to use Product Maintenance, the Product Inquiry window appears instead, and allows you to view product information.

Inquiry Tab Fields and Buttons

Note This tab is disabled if you are creating, editing, or deleting a color.

Field or Button	Description
All (Color Codes)	Select this check box to display color information for all colors. This check box is selected by default.
Color Code	Enter a color code for which you want to display information, or click the Lookup button to select a color code. This field is only enabled if you clear the All check box to the left of it.
Name	Enter a color name for which you want to display information, or click the Lookup button to select a color name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All check box to the left of it.
All (NRF Color Codes)	Select this check box to display color information for all NRF color codes. This check box is selected by default.
NRF Color Code	Enter an NRF color code for which to display information. This field is only enabled if you clear the All check box to the left of it.
Colors	This grid displays color information based on the selected criteria after you click the Show Data button in the ribbon. Double-click a color to select it and display information for it on the Main tab.
