Purpose

Overview

Use Dashboard Management to manage the display order, content, and appearance of dashboards. For chart dashboards, you can select the charted data. For gauge dashboards, you can select whether values are rounded, and enter maximum, warning, and alert levels.

Editing a Chart Dashboard

To edit a chart dashboard:

Select a dashboard in the Dashboards grid.
Click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.
Click the Data tab.
Set up the data to include in the chart. You can set up the chart column and row data based on the chart type, and preview the chart data in the grid to the right of the Row Labels and Column Labels sections. You can set up one or more summary columns, which display a calculated total, difference, percentage difference, or record count, for either the column or row data. For example, for a pie, donut, or pyramid chart, use a summary column for the column labels and a specific source for the row labels. Whereas for a column, line, or pareto chart, use a summary column for the row labels and a specific source for the column labels.
Click the OK button in the ribbon to save changes to the chart.

Editing a Gauge Dashboard

To edit a gauge dashboard:

Select a dashboard in the Dashboards grid.
Click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.
If you want to round off decimal values from the gauge value, select the Round Value check box.
If you want to change the maximum value for the gauge, enter a value in the Maximum field.
If you want to change the warning and/or alert values for the gauge, enter a value in the Warn Level and/or Alert Level field. These fields are used together to set up a yellow warning and red alert area on the gauge. If you are gauging a value that you do not want to be too large, enter a greater value in the Alert Level field. If you are gauging a value that you do not want to be too small, enter a greater value in the Warn Level field.

Note Warning and alert levels only display in gauges that use the Simple White or Green Gauge chart type.

Click the OK button in the ribbon to save changes to the gauge.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button	Description
Exit	Click this button to close the Dashboard Management window.
Show Data	Click this button to refresh dashboard data on the Data tab.
Edit Dashboard	Click this button to edit the selected dashboard.
OK	Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.
Cancel	Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.
Add Summary Column	Click this button to add a summary column to a dashboard. This button is only available if you click the Data tab, and is only enabled if you click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.
Remove Summary Column	Click this button to remove a selected summary column from a dashboard. This button is only available if you click the Data tab, and is only enabled if you click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.
Refresh Browser	Click this button to refresh grid data. This button is only available if you click the Data tab, and is only enabled if you click the Edit Dashboard button in the ribbon.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Dashboards	This grid displays existing dashboards.
Number	This field displays the sequence number of the selected dashboard. This number controls the order of displayed dashboards.
Type	This field displays the type of the selected dashboard, such as chart or gauge.
Round Value	Select this check box to round the value displayed in a gauge dashboard to an integer value. This check box is only available if you select a gauge dashboard. Example A gauge displays a value of 107541.83 when this check box is cleared. If you select this check box, the gauge displays a value of 107542.
Maximum	Enter the maximum value for a gauge dashboard. This field is only available if you select a gauge dashboard.
Warn Level	Enter the maximum warning value for a gauge dashboard. If the Alert Level value is greater than the Warn Level value, the gauge includes a red alert area for the values between the Alert Level and Maximum values, and includes a yellow warning area for the values between the Warn Level and Alert Level values. If the Warn Level value is greater than the Alert Level value, the gauge includes a red alert area for the values between zero and the Alert Level value, and a yellow warning area between the Alert Level and Warn Level values. This field is only available if you select a gauge dashboard. Note The warning level only displays in gauges that use the Simple White or Green Gauge chart type.
Alert Level	Enter the maximum alert value for a gauge dashboard. If the Alert Level value is greater than the Warn Level value, the gauge includes a red alert area for the values between the Alert Level and Maximum values, and includes a yellow warning area for the values between the Warn Level and Alert Level values. If the Warn Level value is greater than the Alert Level value, the gauge includes a red alert area for the values between zero and the Alert Level value, and a yellow warning area between the Alert Level and Warn Level values. This field is only available if you select a gauge dashboard. Note The alert level only displays in gauges that use the Simple White or Green Gauge chart type.

Data Tab Fields and Buttons

Note This tab is only enabled if you select a chart type dashboard.

Field or Button	Description
Source Column (Row Labels)	Click the Lookup button to select the source column of row labels for the dashboard. This field is only enabled if the Use Summary Columns check box below it is cleared. The value in this field is used to generate the legend for a pie, doughnut, or pyramid chart.
Use Summary Columns (Row Labels)	Select this check box to use summary columns for row labels. Note You cannot use summary columns for both row and column labels.
Switch Rows and Columns	Click this button to switch row and column data for the dashboard. This button is useful if you are changing from a column chart to another chart type, such as a pie chart.
Source Column (Column Labels)	Click the Lookup button to select the source column of column labels for the dashboard. This field is only enabled if the Use Summary Columns check box below it is cleared. The value in this field is used to generate the x-axis labels for a column, line, or pareto chart.
Use Summary Columns (Column Labels)	Select this check box to use summary columns for column labels. Note You cannot use summary columns for both row and column labels.
Data	This grid displays the underlying data for the dashboard. Click the Show Data button in the ribbon to refresh the data in this grid. Note You cannot graph data in this grid.
Summary Columns	This grid displays the summary columns for the dashboard. Click the Add Summary Column button in the ribbon to add a new summary column to the dashboard. Click the Remove Summary Column button in the ribbon to remove a selected summary column from the dashboard. Select a summary column in this grid to edit settings for it using the fields to the right of the grid.
Value Type	Click the Lookup button to select the value type for the selected summary column. Example Select Total to include total amounts in the chart.
Source Column	Click the Lookup button to select the source column for the selected summary column.
Display on chart	Select this check box to display the selected summary column on the chart.
