Define companion products.
Use Companion Product Maintenance to set up companion product rules by customers, products, groupings of customers, and/or groupings of products. A single product can have multiple companion products. You can also import companion product rules in Companion Product Import.
Note You must select the Use Companion Products check box on the Order Entry tab in Customer Service Control Maintenance to have this functionality turned on. Every order line entered is then evaluated for the possibility of companion products.
The following companion product combinations can be set up:

Define companion products for a specific customer and a specific product being ordered. Note This is the most specific combination. It is best to not set up companion products with this combination. |
Customer/Companion Class |
Define companion products for a specific customer and all products defined as part of a specific companion class being ordered. |
Companion Book/Product |
Define companion products for all customers defined as part of a specific companion book and a specific product being ordered. |
Companion Book/Companion Class |
Define companion products for all customers defined as part of a specific companion book and all products defined as part of a specific companion class being ordered. |

Enter a customer code, or click the Lookup button to select a customer code. This field is only available if you select the Customer radio button. |

Comp Book ID |
Enter a companion book ID, or click the Lookup button to select a companion book ID. This field is only available if you select the Companion Book radio button. |
Enter the first date in a range of effective dates for the companion product rule, or click the drop-down arrow to select a date. This will be either the order date or the required date based on the companion name selected. Note Dates cannot overlap for the same companion combination (even if using a different companion name). |

Enter a customer or companion book name, or click the Lookup button to select a customer or companion book name. |

Enter a companion class ID, or click the Lookup button to select a companion class ID. This field is only available if you select the Companion Class radio button. |
Enter a companion name ID, or click the Lookup button to select a companion name ID. |

Enter a product or companion class name, or click the Lookup button to select a product or companion class name. |

Enter a companion name, or click the Lookup button to select a companion name. This determines the resolution order if there are multiple combinations (see list above) used with the same companion name. For more information, see Companion Name Maintenance. |

Enter the quantity to use as a basis for calculating companion quantities. |

Select this check box if companion quantities can be met by the total of ordered products in a companion class. EXAMPLE Product A and Product B are in companion class X. If 10 units are sold, Product C is free. If this check box is selected, customers can order 6 units of Product A and 4 units of Product B to get Product C for free. If this check box is cleared, customers must order 10 units of either Product A or 10 units of Product B to get Product C for free. This check box is cleared by default, and is only enabled if the Companion Class radio button is selected. |

If the Product radio button is selected, enter the unit of measure to use as a basis for calculating companion quantities, or click the Lookup button to select a unit of measure. If the Companion Class radio button is selected, click the Lookup button to select a unit of measure to use as a basis for calculating companion quantities (e.g., Default Selling). |

Click the Lookup button and select one of the following options:

Select this check box if the companion product has a maximum number of uses, and then enter the number of uses. EXAMPLE You only want to give away a free product once for a companion product combination. To set this up, select this check box, and enter 1. |
|
Enter a product code for a product that is going to be a companion product for the selected rules, or click the Lookup button to select a product code. |
|
Enter a product name for a product that is going to be a companion product for the selected rules, or click the Lookup button to select a product name. |
|
Enter the quantity to use as a basis for calculating companion quantities based on the product quantity ordered. |
|
Enter the unit of measure to use as a basis for calculating companion quantities based on the product quantity ordered. |

Select one of the following options:

Enter a special price for the companion product. This field is only enabled if you select the Special Price radio button. |
|
Enter the unit of measure for calculating the special price of the companion product. This field is only enabled if you select the Special Price radio button. |
|
Enter an additional charge/credit type for the companion product, or click the Lookup button to select an additional charge/credit type. This is optional, and functions the same as adding an additional charge to a line item on a sales order. |
|
Enter an additional charge amount. |
|
Enter a percentage of the cost that can be billed back to the supplier if the companion product is added to an order. This field is only enabled if the Free Goods radio button is selected. |
|
Click this button to add the companion product to the Companion Products grid. |
|
Click this button to remove a selected companion product from the Companion Products grid. |
|
This grid displays companion products for the selected combination. |
