A lot is a subset of a product that is grouped together for inventory tracking. Products may be tracked by lots so that you can monitor expiration dates. For example, if a product is a chocolate bar that has a short shelf life, you can record lots of chocolate bars, so you know which chocolate bars should be sold first. Additionally, the software allows you to track by manufacturer lots within each of your own lots. This is useful for products with long shelf lives, for which you do not need to separate products into separate Apprise lots because expiration dates are not as vital to your business.
You can record manufacturer lot information in Container Lot Entry when entering information for a container, or you can record manufacturer lot information during receiving in Additional Lot Information.
