Fax FAQ

Question: Can I fax documents, such as invoices, to customers?

Answer: Yes. You can fax documents via a third-party email fax service.

If you fax via a third-party email fax service, faxed documents are emailed to the fax service, with the documents sent as PDF attachments. You can specify a subject and body for the outgoing email for each contact's documents in Contact Document Selection. The email is sent to an email address that is comprised of the contact's fax number and the fax service domain.

Example You use a fax email service called fax123.com. When a fax is sent via email to a contact whose fax number is 555-5555, the email is sent to 5555555@fax123.com.

If you want to fax via a third-party email fax service, perform the following:

  1. Set up an account with the third-party email fax service.

  2. In System ID Maintenance, select the Use External Fax through Email Service check box on the Output Options tab, and enter the fax service domain in the Fax Email Suffix field.

Note Verify that you have the contact fax number entered in Contact Maintenance before faxing documents.
