Create route definitions for routing management.
Use Fleet Delivery Route Maintenance to define and maintain routes in conjunction with an in house fleet delivery system. You can use routing management to facilitate picking, packing, loading, and delivery of products to customers. Apprise has implemented routing management functionality to facilitate the picking, packing, loading, and delivery of products to customers. Routing management is comprised of creating routes, waves, and stops and associating the complete route to a customer's record. Routes correspond to truck routes, stops are the stops for each route, and waves are a group of routes.
To set up an integrated routing system, use Fleet Delivery Route Maintenance and the following:
Fleet Delivery Wave Maintenance - Create wave definitions to identify groups of routes.
Fleet Delivery Stop Maintenance - Create stop definitions to identify routes with specified customers.
You can create routes that are either fixed or variable. A fixed route can be day-specific (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) or non-day-specific. This type of route contains a fixed number of stops. A variable route has no fixed stops and can be used with third-party logistics software to develop the actual stops for orders to be delivered for a specific day.
Routes are also determined to be active or inactive. Capacity constraints such as weight, volume, and time can also be placed on routes so that over-capacity routes can be re-routed.
A customer's record (in Customer Maintenance) is assigned the ability to use an in house fleet delivery system by selecting a shipper in the Ship-To tab that has been flagged as fleet delivery. If enabled, you can view the Customer Route Inquiry for the selected customer by clicking the Route button in the ribbon. A customer's ship-to record can contain one or more fixed routes, but only one stop for each route. Geographical latitude and longitude coordinates can also be assigned to the customer's ship-to record to help when using third-party logistics software.
To create routes, you must already have valid defined waves, which were created in Fleet Delivery Wave Maintenance.
