Create wave definitions to be used in routing management.
Use Fleet Delivery Wave Maintenance to define and maintain waves for an in house fleet delivery system. You can use routing management to facilitate picking, packing, loading, and delivery of products to customers. Routing management is comprised of creating routes, waves, and stops and associating the complete route to a customer's record. Routes correspond to truck routes, stops are the stops for each route, and waves are a group of routes.
To set up an integrated routing system, use Fleet Delivery Wave Maintenance and the following:
Fleet Delivery Route Maintenance - Create route definitions to identify a route to a specific wave.
Fleet Delivery Stop Maintenance - Create stop definitions to identify routes with specified customers.
After waves are defined, they can be used in the assignment of routes in Fleet Delivery Route Maintenance that can then become associated with stops for each route. If your company consists of several locations, you can define waves that are location specific.
Example You can create two waves: Wed&Fri ( Description: Wednesdays & Fridays Location: NJ - New Jersey) and Mon-Fri (Description: Mondays through Fridays). The first identifies a wave that consists of only two days and is specific to a single location. The second is a wave for each day of the week, however it is not location specific, therefore all warehouse locations can use this wave.
