Purpose

Set up workflow definitions for product lifecycle management.

Overview

Use Lifecycle Definition Maintenance to create, edit, and delete workflow definitions, which describe the tasks users perform for a process. For information on creating workflow definitions, see Creating Product Lifecycle Management Workflow Definitions.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Lifecycle Definition Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new workflow definition.

Update

Click this button to update the selected workflow definition.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected workflow definition.

Copy

Click this button to copy the selected workflow definition.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, Delete, or Copy button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, Delete, or Copy button in the ribbon.

Show Data

Click this button to refresh data in the Workflow Definitions grid.

Definition Designer

Click this button to display Lifecycle Definition Designer, which allows you to set up the process flow of the selected workflow definition.

Data Entry Layout

Click this button to display Lifecycle Data Entry Layout, which allows you to preview the data entry layout for the selected workflow definition.

Task Maintenance

Click this button to display Lifecycle Task Maintenance, which allows you to set up tasks for product lifecycle management.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Workflow Type

Enter a workflow type, or click the Lookup button to select a workflow type.

Workflow Level

Enter a workflow level, or click the Lookup button to select a workflow level. The available levels are based on the selected workflow type.

Definition Code

Enter the unique code for the workflow definition, or click the Lookup button to select an existing workflow definition code.

Description

Enter a description of the workflow definition.

Detailed Description

Enter a detailed description of the workflow definition.

Status

Select the status of the product lifecycle management workflow definition. You can select one of the following statuses:

  • Active

  • Setup

  • Discontinued

Note Only active status workflow definitions can be assigned to workflows.

Definition Group

Enter a workflow definition group for the workflow definition, or click the Lookup button to select a workflow definition group. For information on setting up workflow definition groups, see Lifecycle Definition Group Maintenance.

Workflow Definitions

This grid displays information for existing workflow definitions. Double-click a workflow definition to display Lifecycle Definition Designer, which allows you to set up the process flow of the workflow definition.
