Purpose

Define price classes.

Overview

Use Price Class Maintenance to create price classes (groupings of products used solely for pricing purposes). Price classes can then be used to create price matrix records in Price Book Price Maintenance or Customer Price Maintenance for a customer or a price book. For more information, see Price Logic FAQ.

A price class is associated with a product or product/location on the Selling tab of Product Maintenance or Product Location Maintenance.

Example Price class names Cat Food and Dog Food describe all products that are considered cat food or dog food.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button	Description
Exit	Click this button to close the Price Class Maintenance window.
New	Click this button to create a new price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Update	Click this button to edit the selected price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Delete	Click this button to delete the selected price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed. You cannot delete a price class if a product, product/location, product category, or price matrix is associated with it.
OK	Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
Cancel	Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.
Import Products	Click this button to display Price Class Product Import, which allows you to import products from an external file into a price class you are creating or editing. This button is only available after you click the New or Update button in the ribbon.
Show Data	Click this button to display price classes on the Inquiry tab. This button is only available if the Inquiry tab is displayed.
First	Click this button to display the first price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Prev	Click this button to display the previous price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Next	Click this button to display the next price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.
Last	Click this button to display the last price class. This button is only available if the Main tab is displayed.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Price Class	Enter a price class ID, or click the Lookup button to select a price class ID.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button	Description
Short Description	Enter a short description for the price class.
Display in Lookups	Select this check box to allow the price class to display in Lookup windows. This check box is selected by default.
Detailed Description	Enter a long description for the price class.
Product Code	Enter a product code you want to add to the price class, or click the Lookup button to select a product code.
Product Name	Enter a product name you want to add to the price class, or click the Lookup button to select a product code.
Add	Click this button to add the product associated with the entered product code or name to the price class.
Remove	Click this button to remove the selected product in the Products grid from the price class.
Remove All	Click this button to remove all products in the Products grid from the price class.
Products	This grid displays products included in the price class. Note This grid is cached by default to improve performance. You cannot sort, filter, group, graph, or summarize data in a cached grid. For information on changing the caching setting for grids, see Screen Customizer.

Inquiry Tab Fields and Buttons

Note This tab is disabled if you are creating, editing, or deleting a price class.

Price Classes	This grid displays price classes after you click the Show Data button in the ribbon. Double-click a price class to select it and display information for it on the Main tab.
