Define valid types of return codes.
Define return code general ledger account resolution.
Use Return Code Maintenance to define return codes. A return is a type of order that designates a customer is returning product and/or getting a price adjustment. You must define a return code to properly adjust inventory and the general ledger for a return.
The software uses the following three types of returns:
An adjustment in price with no goods returned (no adjustment to stock is made).
An inventory adjustment with no goods returned (no adjustment to stock is made).
An inventory adjustment with returned goods (stock is adjusted).
All returns produce a journal entry containing the accounts receivable and return sales accounts. A return where goods are returned also produces an entry containing the inventory and cost of goods sold returns accounts. For more information, see Return Orders FAQ.
