To use Ribbon Link Maintenance, click the Ribbon Links button in the ribbon in one of the following windows:

Purpose

Set up ribbon buttons to launch other programs.

Overview

Use Ribbon Link Maintenance to set up ribbon buttons so that users can access information related to the data they are entering. Each link creates a ribbon button. The ribbon buttons are only visible to users who are authorized to access the programs that the buttons launch.

Note If you accessed Ribbon Link Maintenance from Monitoring Task Maintenance or Lifecycle Task Maintenance, the buttons you set up display only for a specific tab. If you accessed Ribbon Link Maintenance from Monitoring Definition Designer or Lifecycle Definition Designer, the buttons you set up display for all tabs in a data entry window. If you accessed Ribbon Link Maintenance from Lifecycle Task Inquiry, Monitoring Task Inquiry, or Lifecycle Task Maintenance/Monitoring Task Maintenance in Inquiry mode, you can only view buttons previously set up.

Creating Ribbon Buttons

To create a ribbon button:

  1. Double-click a program in the Available grid at the left of the window for which you want to add a ribbon button. The program appears in the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid.

  2. Enter a caption for the ribbon button in the Label column of the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid. The caption will help users understand the purpose of the button, and should be consistent with the name of the program the button launches.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all ribbon buttons you want to appear for the tab or window.

  4. If you want to change the arrangement of ribbon buttons for the tab or window, use the up and down arrow buttons at the right of the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid.

This grid displays programs for which you can add ribbon buttons. Double-click a program for which you want to add a button.

Click this button to add the selected program to the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid.

Click this button to remove the selected program from the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid.

Selected/Selected for This Workflow Definition

This grid displays programs for which ribbon buttons are added for a tab or window. You can enter a caption for each button in the Label column. You can click the up and down arrow buttons at the right of the grid to change the sequence of ribbon buttons. Buttons for programs at the top of the grid appear to the left of buttons for programs lower in the grid.

Click this button to move the ribbon button selected in the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid up one row. This moves the button one position to the left in the ribbon users see when performing data entry.

Click this button to move the ribbon button selected in the Selected or Selected for This Workflow Definition grid down one row. This moves the button one position to the right in the ribbon users see when performing data entry.

Menu Links Defined for Tabpages

This grid displays ribbon links set up for specific tabs used in the workflow. This grid is only available if you accessed this window from Monitoring Definition Designer or Lifecycle Definition Designer.
