Purpose

Define system-level settings for the Profitability Scorecards module.

Overview

Use Scorecard Control Maintenance to set up default settings for the Profitability Scorecards module. You can set up different options for customer, product, and supplier profitability data.

Setting Up Default Profitability Scorecards Settings

To set up default settings for the Profitability Scorecards module:

  1. Click the Update button in the ribbon.

  2. Select default settings.

  3. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The module settings are updated.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Scorecard Control Maintenance window.

Update

Click this button to update settings for the Profitability Scorecards module.

OK

Click this button to save profitability settings. This button is only available if you click the Update button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel the changes you have made to profitability settings. This button is only available if you click the Update button in the ribbon.

Show Data

Click this button to refresh grid data. This button is only available if you click the Product Revenue or Product Cost tabs and you are not updating settings.

General Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Calculate commission as part of scorecard

Select this check box to calculate commissions for the profitability scorecard. This check box is selected by default. If you select this check box, you must enter a profit category and subcategory for calculating commissions.

Profit Category Code (Commissions)

Enter a scorecard profit category code for calculating commissions, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit category code. For information on setting up scorecard profit categories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Subcategory (Commissions)

Enter a scorecard profit subcategory code for calculating commissions, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit subcategory code. For information on setting up scorecard profit subcategories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Calculate Driver commission as part of scorecard

Select this check box to calculate driver commissions for the profitability scorecard. This check box is cleared by default. If you select this check box, you must enter a profit category and subcategory for calculating commissions.

Profit Category Code (Driver Commissions)

Enter a scorecard profit category code for calculating driver commissions, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit category code. For information on setting up scorecard profit categories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Subcategory (Driver Commissions)

Enter a scorecard profit subcategory code for calculating driver commissions, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit subcategory code. For information on setting up scorecard profit subcategories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Calculate Royalties as part of the scorecard

Select this check box to calculate royalties for the profitability scorecard. This check box is selected by default. If you select this check box, you must enter a profit category and subcategory for calculating royalties.

Profit Category Code (Royalties)

Enter a scorecard profit category code for calculating royalties, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit category code. For information on setting up scorecard profit categories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Subcategory (Royalties)

Enter a scorecard profit subcategory code for calculating royalties, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit subcategory code. For information on setting up scorecard profit subcategories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Default Profit Group Code

Enter the default scorecard profit group code, or click the Lookup button to select the default scorecard profit group code. For information on setting up scorecard profit groups, see Scorecard Profit Group Maintenance.

Name

Enter the default scorecard profit group name, or click the Lookup button to select the default scorecard profit group name. For information on setting up scorecard profit groups, see Scorecard Profit Group Maintenance.

Store Customer/Product/Supplier Profitability Data by Month

Select this check box to store customer, product, or supplier profitability data by month. This check box is cleared by default.

Update Profitability as data becomes available

Select this check box to add profitability data when it becomes available. For more information on when profitability data is added, see Profitability Scorecards Module. This check box is selected by default. If you clear this check box, then the batch update must be run manually (or on a scheduled basis).

Store Customer/Product/Supplier Profitability Data by Period

Select this check box to store customer, product, or supplier profitability data by period. This check box is cleared by default.

Profit Group is required for billing customers/products/suppliers

Select this check box if a profit group is required for billing customers, products, or suppliers.

Note All existing billing customers, products, or suppliers must be assigned a profit group before you select this check box.

Product Revenue Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Group

Select whether to display order classes, products, or additional charges. These radio buttons are only enabled if you are not updating settings.

Status

Select one of the following options:

  • Assigned - Display order classes, products, or additional charges that are assigned to a profit category and subcategory.

  • Unassigned - Display order classes, products, or additional charges that are not assigned to a profit category and subcategory.

  • Both - Displays all order classes, products, or additional charges.

These radio buttons are only enabled if you are not updating settings.

Include Discontinued Items

Select this check box to include discontinued products in scorecard product revenue calculations. This check box is cleared by default, and is only available if you select the Product radio button on the Product Revenue tab.

Include Inactive Items

Select this check box to include inactive products in scorecard product revenue calculations. This check box is cleared by default, and is only available if you select the Product radio button on the Product Revenue tab.

Order Classes/Products/Additional Charges

This grid displays order classes, products, or additional charges based on the selected options above the grid after you click the Show Data button in the ribbon. You can assign a scorecard profit category and subcategory for product revenue calculations to each order class, product, or additional charge in the grid.

Product Cost Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Derive costs from

Select whether product costs for the scorecard are based on accounting, sales reporting, or commission costs.

Group

Select whether to display order classes, products, or additional charges. These radio buttons are only enabled if you are not updating settings.

Status

Select one of the following options:

  • Assigned - Display order classes, products, or additional charges that are assigned to a profit category and subcategory.

  • Unassigned - Display order classes, products, or additional charges that are not assigned to a profit category and subcategory.

  • Both - Displays all order classes, products, or additional charges.

These radio buttons are only enabled if you are not updating settings.

Include Discontinued Items

Select this check box to include discontinued products in scorecard product cost calculations. This check box is cleared by default, and is only available if you select the Product radio button.

Include Inactive Items

Select this check box to include inactive products in scorecard product cost calculations. This check box is cleared by default, and is only available if you select the Product radio button.

Order Classes/Products/Additional Charges

This grid displays order classes, products, or additional charges based on the selected options above the grid after you click the Show Data button in the ribbon. You can assign a scorecard profit category and subcategory for product cost calculations to each order class, product, or additional charge in the grid.

Product Category Tab Fields and Buttons

Product Categories

This grid displays product categories, and allows you to assign scorecard profit categories and subcategories to the product categories. Products in the product categories inherit the scorecard profit categories and subcategories.

Accounts Receivable Tab Fields and Buttons

Note This tab is only available if you select the Customer radio button.

Cash Discounts

Select this check box to calculate cash discounts for the customer profitability scorecard. This check box is selected by default. If you select this check box, you must enter a profit category and subcategory for calculating commissions.

Profit Category (Cash Discounts)

Enter a scorecard profit category code for calculating cash discounts, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit category code. For information on setting up scorecard profit categories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Subcategory (Cash Discounts)

Enter a scorecard profit subcategory code for calculating cash discounts, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit subcategory code. For information on setting up scorecard profit subcategories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Finance Charges

Select this check box to calculate finance charges for the customer profitability scorecard. This check box is selected by default. If you select this check box, you must enter a profit category and subcategory for calculating finance charges.

Profit Category (Finance Charges)

Enter a scorecard profit category code for calculating finance charges, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit category code. For information on setting up scorecard profit categories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Subcategory (Finance Charges)

Enter a scorecard profit subcategory code for calculating finance charges, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit subcategory code. For information on setting up scorecard profit subcategories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Absorption

Select this check box to calculate absorption for the customer profitability scorecard. This check box is selected by default. If you select this check box, you must enter a profit category and subcategory for calculating absorption.

Profit Category (Absorption)

Enter a scorecard profit category code for calculating absorption, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit category code. For information on setting up scorecard profit categories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Subcategory (Absorption)

Enter a scorecard profit subcategory code for calculating absorption, or click the Lookup button to select a scorecard profit subcategory code. For information on setting up scorecard profit subcategories, see Scorecard Profit Category Maintenance.

Display open chargebacks on the scorecard

Select this check box to display open chargebacks (for which a write-off, credit memo, or payment are not yet entered) at the bottom of the scorecard. Open chargebacks do not change the scorecard's profit. Open unresolved chargebacks are displayed separately from open resolved chargebacks. This check box is selected by default.

Write-Offs

Select this check box to calculate write-offs for the customer profitability scorecard. This check box is selected by default. If you select this check box, you can enter a profit category and subcategory for each write-off reason code.

Write-Offs

This grid displays write-off reason codes, and allows you to assign scorecard profit categories and subcategories to the write-off reason codes.

Accounts Payable Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Calculate costs from A/P into the scorecard

Select this check box to include costs that originate in accounts payable in the profitability scorecard calculations. If this check box is selected, the profit category and subcategory are derived from the general ledger accounts.

Cash Discounts

Select this check box to include cash discounts on accounts payable payments in supplier profitability scorecard calculations. This check box is only available if you select the Supplier radio button.

Profit Category

Enter a profit category for cash discounts, or click the Lookup button to select a profit category. This field is only available if you select the Supplier radio button, and only enabled if you select the Cash Discounts check box.

Subcategory

Enter a profit subcategory for cash discounts, or click the Lookup button to select a profit subcategory. This field is only available if you select the Supplier radio button, and only enabled if you select the Cash Discounts check box.

Include Inactive Suppliers

Select this check box to include inactive suppliers in the Suppliers grid.

Suppliers

This grid displays suppliers. Double-click the Option column for each supplier, and select one of the following options:

  • Require - Require customer cost allocation information to be entered on the Customers tab in Voucher Entry or Voucher Edit when entering vouchers for the supplier.

  • Warn - Display a message after entering a voucher for a supplier in Voucher Entry or Voucher Edit without entering customer cost allocation information on the Customers tab.

  • None - Permit vouchers to be entered for the supplier without entering customer cost allocation information in Voucher Entry or Voucher Edit.

Customer Allowances Tab Fields and Buttons

Customer Allowances

This grid displays customer allowance types, and allows you to assign scorecard profit categories and subcategories to the customer allowance types. For information on setting up customer allowance types, see Customer Allowance Type Maintenance.

Accounts Tab Fields and Buttons

Accounts

This grid displays general ledger accounts, and allows you to assign scorecard profit categories and subcategories to the accounts.

Note You should usually only associate income and expense accounts with profit categories and subcategories.
