Menu Path: Warehouse Management Allocations Automatic Backorder Allocate
Automatically release backorders.
Automatically cancel backorders.
Use Automatic Backorder Allocate to automatically release backorders, and to automatically cancel backorders with a cancel-after date before today. You can select to release and cancel backorders for a specific shipping location or all shipping locations. You can also release and cancel all order types, sales orders only, or transfer orders only.
Automatic Backorder Allocate first cancels order lines with a cancel after date less than today. Then, it checks for all backordered products, ignores any pending future allocations, and attempts to allocate inventory to backorders. The backorders are filled automatically according to the product’s backorder release priority as defined in its product-location record on the Warehouse tab in Product Location Maintenance. After backorders are filled, you can print pick demand for those orders and continue with normal order processing such as shipment confirmation, inventory adjustment, invoice creation, and invoice posting.
Note Automatic Backorder Allocation is only run for products that do not allow manual inventory allocation, that is, only those products/locations for which the Only Release Backorders Manually check box cleared on the Warehouse tab in Product Location Maintenance.
If the Hold Inventory for Backorders check box is selected for a product/location on the Warehouse tab in Product Location Maintenance, this program calculates quantity available using the following formula:
Quantity Available = Quantity On Hand - Quantity Pending + Quantity Future - Quantity Not Available + Quantity Raw Allocated
If the Hold Inventory for Backorders check box is cleared for a product/location on the Warehouse tab in Product Location Maintenance, this program calculates quantity available using the following formula:
Quantity Available = Quantity On Hand - Quantity Allocated - Quantity Not Available + Quantity Raw Allocated
These quantities are displayed in Inventory Matrix Inquiry.
Note Allocation may not occur or allocated quantities may be rounded down based on the allocation product minimum and multiple values and the selected Allocation Qty Min/Mult Automatic option in Customer Service Control Maintenance.
