Purpose

Overview

Use Sales Team Maintenance to define a group of sales representatives who are linked together in a team. Sales teams are sales representatives with a common link (geographic, product line, etc.) based on your company's sales structure. Sales teams are used for sales analysis, and sometimes for general ledger posting purposes.

After you create sales teams, you can select a sales team for each sales representative in Sales Representative Maintenance.

Note You cannot delete a sales team if it already has a sales representative assigned to it.

Creating Sales Teams

To create a sales team:

  1. Click the New button in the ribbon.

  2. Enter a sales team ID in the Sales Team ID field.

  3. Enter a description of the sales team in the Description field. If required, also enter a data extract name for the team in the Extract Team Name field.

  4. If the sales team is inactive, clear the Active check box.

  5. If you are using the Business Intelligence module, enter the Windows domain and user name for the sales team manager in the QlikView User field.

  6. Click the Accounts tab.

  7. Enter general ledger accounts for the sales team. If you enter only selected elements of a general ledger account, the remaining elements must be filled with asterisks (e.g., 111-00-***-00-****).

  8. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The sales team is created.

Click this button to close the Sales Team Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new sales team.

Update

Click this button to update the selected sales team.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected sales team. You cannot delete a sales team that is used for an incentive goal.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available if you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available if you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display the first sales team.

Prev

Click this button to display the previous sales team.

Next

Click this button to display the next sales team.

Last

Click this button to display the last sales team.

Fields and Buttons

Sales Team ID

Enter a sales team ID, or click the Lookup button to select a sales team ID.

General Tab Fields and Buttons

Enter a description of the sales team.

Extract Team Name

Enter a team name to use for data extracts output in Generate Data Extract.

Note The data extracts are only used by beverage distributors who need to send data to the following companies: Beverage Data Network (BDN), Vermont Information Processing (VIP), and/or TradePulse.

Active

Select this check box if the sales team is active. If this check box is cleared, the sales team will not appear in Lookup windows. This check box is selected by default.

QlikView User

Enter the Windows domain and user name for the sales team manager, so they can view their data in QlikView documents.

NOTE If this field is blank, the sales team manager will see data for all sales teams.

Sales Discount

Enter a sales discount account to use for the sales team, or click the Lookup button to display G/L Prompting, which allows you to enter a general ledger account by element. For more information, see Account Resolution Order.

Sales Returns

Enter a sales returns account to use for the sales team, or click the Lookup button to display G/L Prompting, which allows you to enter a general ledger account by element. For more information, see Account Resolution Order.

Sales Returns Discount

Enter a sales returns discount account to use for the sales team, or click the Lookup button to display G/L Prompting, which allows you to enter a general ledger account by element. For more information, see Account Resolution Order.

Cost of Goods Sold

Enter a cost of goods sold account to use for the sales team, or click the Lookup button to display G/L Prompting, which allows you to enter a general ledger account by element. For more information, see Account Resolution Order.

Cost of Goods Sold Returns

Enter a cost of goods sold returns account to use for the sales team, or click the Lookup button to display G/L Prompting, which allows you to enter a general ledger account by element. For more information, see Account Resolution Order.
