Multiple Sales Representative Customers FAQ

Question: If multiple sales representatives service a single customer, and they only get credit for the specific product lines that they are authorized to sell, how is this set up?

Answer: The concept is that sales representatives can sell out of their bag. Their bag can contain certain product lines for different customers. For example, when sales representative A services customer ABC, they can sell product lines X, Y, and Z. However, when selling to customer DEF, they can only sell product lines X and Z. So, in this case, there would need to be two product line groupings set up - the first that could be associated with customer ABC and the second that could be associated with customer DEF.

A line item on a sales order can only be assigned to one sales representative for commission purposes, but one sales order can have multiple sales representatives.

The following setup is required:

  1. In Customer Maintenance, select the Sales Representative By Line Item check box on the Sales tab.

  2. In Commission Group Maintenance, set up groups of sales representatives that share the same commission arrangements.

  3. In Commission Class Maintenance, set up classes that parallel product lines being set up.

  4. In Commission Rate Maintenance, set up the commission rates by sales representative or commission group for every commission class.

  5. In Product Line Group Maintenance, set up product line groupings. For more information, see Product Line Group Structure.

  6. In Customer Product Line Group Maintenance, associate customers with product line groupings.

  7. In Sales Representative Product Line Group Maintenance, associate sales representatives with product line groupings.

For example, if customer ABC is serviced by three sales representatives, John, Mary, and Sally, the sales and commissions are credited as follows.

Product Line Group 1

Product Line Group 2

Product Line Group 3

Product Line Group 4

John
