Purpose

View chronological supply, demand, and availability of a product to project a promise date when quantities are available.

Overview

Use Available to Promise Inquiry to display product availability in chronological sequence.

Exit

Click this button to close the Available to Promise Inquiry window.

Show Data

Click this button to display orders based on the selected criteria.

View Promise History

Click this button to display Promise History, which allows you to view promise date history for the sales order.

Shipment Inquiry

Click this button to display Shipment Management, which allows you to view detailed information for the shipment associated with the selected order. This button is only enabled if a shipment is associated with the selected order.

Container Inquiry

Click this button to display Container Management, which allows you to view detailed information for the container associated with the selected order. This button is only enabled if a container is associated with the selected order.

Main Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Location Prefix

Enter a shipping location prefix, or click the Lookup button to select a location prefix. For more information on shipping locations, see Sales Location / Shipping Location.

Name (Location)

Enter a shipping location name, or click the Lookup button to select a location name. For more information on shipping locations, see Sales Location / Shipping Location.

Product Code

Enter a product code, or click the Lookup button to select a product code.

Name (Product)

Enter a product name, or click the Lookup button to select a product name.

U/M

Click the Lookup button to select a unit of measure. For more information on units of measure, see Unit of Measure Fields FAQ.

On Hand

This field displays the on-hand quantity for the selected product in the selected location (including quantity in not available bins).

Allocated

This field displays the allocated quantity for the selected product in the selected location.

Future Available

This field displays the future available quantity for the selected product in the selected location. This is calculated as the quantity currently available plus the quantity on incoming purchase orders minus the quantity of future receipt reservations.

Required Date

Enter the required date for the product, or click the drop-down arrow to select a date. This field defaults to today's date.

Backordered

This field displays the backordered quantity for the product.

Qty Needed

This field displays the quantity needed for the selected product, which is the sum of the backordered and priority backordered quantities.

Request Qty

Enter the quantity the customer requested for the selected product.

Priority Backorders

This field displays the quantity for all open order lines (or just backorders if the Backorders Only check box is selected) with a required date before the required date entered in the Required Date field.

Backorders Only

Select this check box to only display backorders in the Orders grid.

Orders

This grid displays pending order summary information, which can include customer orders, purchase orders, finalized work orders, external orders, and transfer in/transfer out order quantities from transfer orders.

By default, the grid includes the following columns:

  • Order Type - This column displays the type of order (customer order, release, transfer out, work order, purchase order, transfer in, or customer return).

  • Required Date - This column displays the required date for the order.

  • Number - This column displays the order number.

  • Quantity - This column displays the quantity supply (work order, purchase order, release, transfer in, or customer return) or quantity demand (customer order, transfer out, or work order).

  • Qty Avail - This column displays the cumulative quantity that is projected to be available.

  • Scheduled Delivery Date - This column displays the date the quantity becomes available.

  • Reserved - This check box is selected if the order used reservations.

  • Reserved Quantity - This column displays the reserved quantity for orders that used reservations.

  • Reserved Customer - This column displays the customer for orders that used reservations.

  • Reserved by - This column displays the user ID of the user that created reservations for orders that used reservations.

  • Release Number - This column displays the release number for blanket purchase order releases.

  • Container # - This column displays the container number for each order. Double-click a container number to display Container Management, which allows you to view detailed information for the container.

  • Container Code - This column displays the container code for each order. Double-click a container code to display Container Management, which allows you to view detailed information for the container.

  • Shipment # - This column displays the shipment number for each order. Double-click a shipment number to display Shipment Management, which allows you to view detailed information for the shipment.

  • Order Date - This column displays the order date for each order.

  • Order Priority - This column displays the priority for each order.

  • Calculated Promise Date - This column displays the system-calculated promise date for each order based on expected supply availability.

  • Actual Promise Date - This column displays the manually entered promise date for each order.

  • PO Scheduled Delivery Date - This column displays the scheduled delivery date for each container or purchase order line item.

Double-click a sales order to display Order Edit, which allows you to view and update detailed information for the sales order.

Note If you are not authorized to use Order Edit, the Order Entry window appears instead, and allows you to view and update information for the order. If you are not authorized to use Order Edit or Order Entry, the Order Inquiry window appears instead, and allows you to view order information for the order.

Double-click a purchase order to display Purchase Order Maintenance, which allows you to view and update the purchase order.

Note If you are not authorized to use Purchase Order Maintenance, the Purchase Order Inquiry window appears instead, and allows you to view information for the purchase order.

Double-click a work order to display Work Order Inquiry, which allows you to view detailed information for the work order.

Note If Option 1 is selected for the Available to Promise forecast method parameter, a positive number is entered for the Available to Promise Days forecast method parameter, and Standard is selected for the Forecast Hold forecast method parameter for the product's buying method, the grid includes the following columns:

  • Promise Date - This column displays the promise date for each purchase order or container.

  • Required Date - This column displays the required date for each purchase order or container.

  • Ref. Number - This column displays the purchase order number for each purchase order or container, PAST DUE for past due open sales orders, or QOH for initial quantity on hand.

  • Type - This column displays the type of data for each row.

  • Quantity - This column displays the quantity for each row.

  • Avail. to Promise - This column displays the available to promise quantity for each row.

  • Container # - This column displays the container number for each container. Double-click a container number to display Container Management, which allows you to view information for the container.

  • Container Code - This column displays the container code for each container. Double-click a container number to display Container Management, which allows you to view information for the container.

  • Shipment # - This column displays the shipment number for each container. Double-click a shipment number to display Shipment Management, which allows you to view information for the shipment.

  • PO Scheduled Delivery Date - This column displays the scheduled delivery date for each container or purchase order line item.

Promise Date

This field displays the promise date for the product based on the entered required date and request quantity. This date is calculated based on the scheduled delivery date on purchase orders.

Summary of Demand

These fields display the demand for each month. These fields are only available If Option 1 is selected for the Available to Promise forecast method parameter, and a positive number is entered for the Available to Promise Days forecast method parameter (for the buying method of the product/location).

Total

This field displays the total quantity for all displayed orders. This field is only available If Option 1 is selected for the Available to Promise forecast method parameter, and a positive number is entered for the Available to Promise Days forecast method parameter (for the buying method of the product/location).
