Purpose

Define sales restrictions on products, product categories, or product subcategories.

Overview

Use Sales Restriction Maintenance to define sales restrictions. All restrictions are specific to a product, category, or subcategory and are valid from the date set up until the expiration date. For more information, see Sales Restrictions FAQ.

Note To use sales restrictions, the Use Sales Restrictions check box must be selected on the Order Entry tab in Customer Service Control Maintenance. You can override sales restrictions if the Can override sales restrictions at order time check box is selected for your user ID in User Extended Options.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Sales Restriction Maintenance window.

New

Click this button to create a new sales restriction.

Update

Click this button to edit the selected sales restriction.

Delete

Click this button to delete the selected sales restriction.

OK

Click this button to accept an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel an action. This button is only available after you click the New, Update, or Delete button in the ribbon.

First

Click this button to display sales restrictions for the first product, product category, or product subcategory based on the selected Restrict and Restrict By options.

Prev

Click this button to display sales restrictions for the previous product, product category, or product subcategory based on the selected Restrict and Restrict By options.

Next

Click this button to display sales restrictions for the next product, product category, or product subcategory based on the selected Restrict and Restrict By options.

Last

Click this button to display sales restrictions for the last product, product category, or product subcategory based on the selected Restrict and Restrict By options.

Restrictions

Click this button to display Restriction Inquiry, which allows you to view product, subcategory, or category restrictions for the selected customer, sales representative, customer division, or sales restriction group.

Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

Restrict

Select whether to maintain sales restrictions by customer, sales representative, customer division, or sales restriction group.

Restrict By

Select whether to maintain sales restrictions by product, subcategory, or category.

Product Code

Enter the product code to be restricted, or click the Lookup button to select a product code. This field is only available if you select the Product radio button.

Category

Enter the product category to be restricted, or click the Lookup button to select a product category. This field is only available if you select the Subcategory or Category radio button. For information on setting up product categories, see Product Category Maintenance.

Active As of

Enter a date for which to display active sales restrictions in the Sales Restriction grid, or click the drop-down arrow to select a date.

Example A customer restriction is set up for product ABC that expires on 3/31/2020. If a date is entered that is less than or equal to 3/31/2020, it will display this restriction in the Sales Restriction grid. If a date is entered that is greater than 3/31/2020, the restriction is not displayed in the grid.

Subcategory

Enter the product subcategory to be restricted, or click the Lookup button to select a product subcategory. This field is only available if you select the Subcategory radio button. For information on setting up product subcategories, see Product Subcategory Maintenance.

Customer Restrictions

This check box is selected if customer restrictions exist for the selected product, category, or subcategory.

Rep Restrictions

This check box is selected if sales representative restrictions exist for the selected product, category, or subcategory.

Division Restrictions

This check box is selected if customer division restrictions exist for the selected product, category, or subcategory.

Sales Restriction Group Restrictions

This check box is selected if sales restriction group restrictions exist for the selected product, category, or subcategory.

Customer/Sales Representative/Customer Division/Sales Restriction Group Code

Enter the customer code, sales representative ID, customer division ID, or sales restriction group code for the sales restriction, or click the Lookup button to select a customer, sales representative, customer division ID, or sales restriction group code. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Others check box.

All Others

Select this check box to create a sales restriction for all unrestricted customers, sales representatives, customer divisions, or sales restriction groups.

Note To allow a specified customer, sales representative, customer division, or sales restriction group to order quantities of the specified product, category, or subcategory, do not select this check box.

Customer Name

Enter the customer name for the sales restriction, or click the Lookup button to select a customer name. This field is only available if you select the Customer radio button.

Expiration Date

Enter the expiration date for the sales restriction, or click the drop-down arrow to select a date.

Restriction Quantity

Enter the quantity that is allowed to be ordered for the sales restriction. This field is only enabled if you clear the Unrestricted check box.

Unrestricted

Select this check box to set up a sales restriction record that states that the customer, sales representative, customer division, or sales restriction group can order any quantity of the selected product, product category, or product subcategory.

Sales Restrictions

This grid displays sales restrictions for the selected product, product category, or product subcategory for all customers, sales representatives, customer divisions, or sales restriction groups based on the selection in the Restrict and Restrict By fields.

Values in the Used Qty column are the quantity already ordered for the product, so you can compare them to the restricted quantity. During order entry an available quantity is calculated as the restricted quantity minus the used quantity.
