Weight Calculations for Sales Orders and Shipping FAQ

Question: How are weights determined during sales order entry and shipment processing?

Answer: Weights are calculated as follows:

Window

Weight Calculation

O/E Line Item Entry

The Unit Weight field displays the unit gross weight of the product converted to the unit of measure for the line item.

The Weight field displays the total weight of all sales order line items.

The weight of a line item is calculated when you click the Enter button to enter the line item. The weight is calculated based on the gross packaged weight for the unit of measure of the product. If that weight is not entered in the system, the software uses the unit gross weight of the product.

Order Entry (Items tab)

The displayed weight is the total weight of all sales order line items (adjusted for any cancelled quantities).

Pick Demand Create and Print (Preview tab)

The displayed weight is the sales order line item weight.

Printed pick tickets display the gross packaged weight for the unit of measure of the product multiplied by the recommended quantity. If that weight is not entered in the system, pick tickets display the unit gross weight of the product multiplied by the recommended quantity.

When package records are generated, the tag and package weights are calculated using the gross packaged weight for the unit of measure of the product. If that weight is not entered in the system, the software uses the unit gross weight of the product.

Pick Demand Confirm (Items tab)

The displayed weight is the gross packaged weight for the unit of measure of the product/location. If that weight is not entered in the system, the weight is the gross packaged weight for the unit of measure of the product, and if that weight is not entered in the system, the weight is the unit gross weight of the product. This same logic is used when packages are created to determine the tag weight. The package weight is then calculated as the sum of the tag weights.

Planned Bill of Lading Management (Update BOL tab)

The displayed weight is the sales order line item weight. The Bill of Lading Summary Report also uses this weight.

Planned Bill of Lading by Pallet Maintenance (Results tab)

The displayed weight is calculated as the unit gross weight of the product multiplied by the ordered quantity.

Bill of Lading Process (Customer Order tab)

The displayed weight is the pick demand package weight.

Master Bill of Lading Process (Customer Order tab)

The displayed weight is the pick demand package weight.

Warehouse Task Management (Data tab)

The displayed weight is the gross packaged weight for the unit of measure of the product. If that weight is not entered in the system, the weight is the unit gross weight of the product.
