Created with wireless warehouse tasks
Pick Demand Create and Print has the following tabs:
Tab |
Purpose |
Specify selection and sort criteria. |
|
View selected orders before creating pick demands. This tab is used to preview the pick demands you are creating. There is no separate preview of which pick demands are being printed or which wireless warehouse tasks will be created (if done as a separate step from creation of pick demands). |
|
View picking constraint alerts. This tab signals conditions that are preventing pick demands from being created, like having enough product to satisfy a customer order, but not in the right unit of measure. |
|
Set up pick demand print options. |
Note This program allows for multiple iterations of order selection for pick demand creation. For example, you can select a specific route of orders, then go back and select an additional specific order number. There are no limitations on the number of iterations that you can perform.
A major reason for creating pick demands first and printing later is if you are using fleet delivery. Using Fleet Delivery Route Manifest Management, pick demands can be given different routes and stops to optimize delivery constraints. Then, pick demands can be printed to allow for optimal picking and loading of fleet delivery trucks.
For customers without fleet delivery considerations, creating and printing simultaneously is generally the preferred option, unless you are using wireless warehouse.
Pick demands created but not yet printed will continue to add pick demand lines until printed.
Pick demand lines get created using a product/location’s assigned pick method, or the location’s default pick method (if not assigned for a product/location).
Every time a pick demand is printed, a unique pick batch number is assigned to all printed pick demands. This is useful for pick demand reprinting (jammed printers, low toner, etc.) and to review alerts. To more efficiently pick one-line-item pick demands, these pick demands can optionally be printed at the beginning or end of a print batch. For information on setting this up, see Zone Maintenance.
For more information on pick demands, see Pick Demand Logic FAQ.
Note After a pick demand has been printed, it is flagged as printed and can only be reprinted using Pick Demand Reprint.

Note Pick alert move demands are used to move products to the primary pick bin for the unit of measure of the product/location (or the primary pick bin for the product/location if a primary pick bin is not set up for the unit of measure). Pick alert move demands are only generated if the primary pick bin is in the selected zone, product is in a bin from which it cannot be picked, the primary pick bin is set up for the product/location, and there are not existing bin move demands for the product. If the demands are created successfully, you are asked if you want to print the demands. Select this check box to print a summary of all pick demands printed. This works only if the Print Pick Demands check box is selected. This defaults from the selected zone (if one is selected), or the location. This summarizes the details of a pick batch, sorted and summarized by product code and recommended bin. You can use the summary report to move products to a staging area. You can then perform picking from the staging area. This saves you from having to pick products from bins for each pick demand. However, if you use this method, you are not actually tracking the inventory being moved to the staging area in the software. For information on how to accurately record staged picking, see Staged Picking Process Flow. The report prints to the zone default printer (if one is set up and you are printing for a specific zone). If the zone default printer is not set up or you are not printing for a zone, the report prints to the location default printer. If this is also not set up, the report prints to the default printer for your computer. |

If this check box is selected and an over allocation occurs for an order line item, a pick alert is generated. The zone can be set up to automatically generate bin replenishment tasks for the pick alerts so that products can be quickly replenished. This check box is selected by default if the Allow Over Allocations check box is selected for the location in Location Maintenance. EXAMPLE An order is created for 20 units of product A. 15 units are in the primary pick bin, and 5 units are in a replenishment bin from which picking is not allowed. If this check box is selected, 1 pick demand line item is created for picking 20 units from the primary pick bin (5 units are over allocated). The zone can be set up to automatically create the bin replenishment demand. |
|
Select this check box to not output pick demands when exporting pick demands to the WMS. This check box is only available if the location is set up to use an external WMS.
