Window Options

Most windows include the following:

The following sections describe each of these options.

File Menu

The File menu is located in the top-left of most windows.

The following table summarizes the commands on this menu.

Menu Commands

Description

Customize

This option contains the following options:

  • Custom Tab Order - Select this menu option to customize or reset the Tab order (the order that you can use to move between fields, when pressing the Tab key). For more information, see Defining Custom Tab Orders.

  • My Keyboard Shortcuts - Select this menu option to assign keyboard shortcuts to buttons. For example, you can assign Alt + L to a Lookup button you frequently use to make it easier to access. You can also clear keyboard shortcuts or display Keyboard Shortcut Editor.

  • Custom Labels - Select this menu option to customize labels of fields, buttons, etc. You can also clear all custom labels to use the default labels. For more information, see Defining Custom Labels.

Previous Tasks

Select this option to display tasks you have recently performed.

Help

Select this option to display a menu with the following options:

  • Help - Select this option to display Help for the window. For more information, see Using Help.

  • Screen Info - Select this option to display Screen Information, which allows you to view screen data for the window.

  • Appserver Info - Select this option to display the application server you are using.

  • Clear Screen Cache - Select this option to clear your screen cache.

Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access toolbar allows you to access frequently used buttons when the ribbon is minimized.

 

NOTE To minimize the ribbon, right-click it, and select Minimize the Ribbon.

These icons function the same as buttons in the ribbon. For more information, see Ribbon Standard Buttons.

If you want to add a ribbon button to the Quick Access toolbar, right-click the button, and select Add to Quick Access Toolbar. If you want to remove a button from the Quick Access toolbar, right-click it, and select Remove. To change the order of a button on the Quick Access toolbar, right-click a button, and select Move Right or Move Left. If you want to restore a Quick Access toolbar to the default settings for a window, right-click any button, and select Reset Quick Access Toolbar.

Note Changes to the Quick Access toolbar are only for your user ID and only for the currently displayed window.

At the right of the Quick Access toolbar, the Customize Quick Access Toolbar button allows you to move the toolbar above and below the ribbon and to minimize the ribbon.

Icon Bar

The icon bar appears at the top-right of most windows.

The following table summarizes the options on the icon bar.

Quick Launch

Click this button to display the Quick Launch field, which allows you to access other Apprise programs without returning to the Main Menu window, or search for the following data:

  • sales orders

  • purchase orders

  • work orders

  • invoices

  • product codes

  • supplier codes

  • customer codes

EXAMPLE If sales order number NJ000000001 exists, you can type NJ000000001 (or NJ.1) in the Quick Launch field to quickly display order information for sales order NJ000000001 in Order Edit.

If you type a number that is valid for multiple records, such as a number that is a sales order number, purchase order number, and invoice number, a selection menu appears, so you can select the appropriate record.

Quick View

Click this button to display the Quick View window. The Quick View window allows you to preview open report and Apprise windows.

Note Minimized windows cannot be previewed.

You can click a previewed window in the Quick View window to display the previewed window, and close the Quick View window.

You can right-click a window in the Quick View window, and select Close Window or Refresh Window to close the window or refresh the data in it. You can also click the X icon in the right of a previewed window to close it.

Navigate

Click this button to navigate from one window to another without using through the hierarchical tree in the Main Menu window. The Navigate menu, sub-menus, and menu options are built dynamically based on user security.

Favorites

Click this button to display one of your favorite windows or add the current window to your favorites.

Send Feedback

Click this button to email comments or suggestions about a window in Apprise. You can optionally include an image of the window and an email address with your feedback.

Help

Click this button to display a menu with the following options:

  • Help - Select this option to display Help for the window. For more information, see Using Help.

  • Screen Info - Select this option to display Screen Information, which allows you to view screen data for the window.

  • Appserver Info - Select this option to display the application server you are using.

  • Clear Screen Cache - Select this option to clear your screen cache.

Ribbon

The ribbon is a collection of buttons that allow you to perform actions and display additional windows with related information or that must be used to complete a process.

The ribbon is divided into one or more tabs, which include buttons with related functionality. Each tab is also divided into one or more groups (Operations, Navigation, Product, etc.) that display related buttons.

You can create a custom group called My Shortcuts on the Home tab in the ribbon, which includes the buttons you use most frequently. Setting up the My Shortcuts group with buttons you frequently use can save you time because you will not need to change ribbon tabs to access the buttons. To add a ribbon button to the My Shortcuts group, right-click it, and select Add to My Shortcuts. To remove a button from the My Shortcuts group, right-click it, and select Remove. To change the order of a button in the My Shortcuts group, right-click a button, and select Move Right or Move Left.
