Purpose

Manage the Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) schedule for forecast groups.

Overview

Use Customer Forecast Management to review forecasts by forecast group before running DRP scheduling.

Note Customer Forecast Management only displays forecasts for products that are set up in customer forecast groups, and that have sales history and/or customer forecasts.

If you are a sales representative, you can only review forecasts for your own customers. A summarized schedule for a selected grouping of products is displayed to allow buyers to review and order time-phased product requirements. You can drill down on the Results tab to display Product DRP Management.

Ribbon Home Tab Buttons

Button

Description

Exit

Click this button to close the Customer Forecast Management window.

Show Data

Click this button to display DRP information on the Results tab based on the selected criteria.

Apply Options

Click this button to quickly change the data displayed based on changes made in the Selection tab. This bypasses the full (longer) processing that occurs when you click the Show Data button. This button is only available if you click the Selection tab.

Note This button is only enabled after you display data and is disabled if options on the Selection tab are changed other than the options in the Results Tab Rows to Display, Results Tab Columns to Display, or Totals Tab Options/Rows To Display section. The Show Data button needs to be used to display other changes.

Notes

Click this button to display Notes Entry, which allows you to view and enter notes for a selected promotional forecast or customer forecast value. This button is only available if the Results tab is displayed.

Discontinued

Click this button to hide information for the selected product, location, and forecast group (if the product is no longer bought). If you click this button, the Customer Discontinued Ordering check box is selected for the product, location, and forecast group in Forecast Sales History Maintenance. This button is only available if the Results tab is displayed.

Selection Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

All Sales Representatives

Select this check box to display DRP information for all sales representatives. This check box is cleared by default and disabled if a sales representative ID is entered in the Sales Representative field in User Extended Options for your user ID. This check box is selected by default if no sales representative ID is entered for your user ID.

Sales Representative

Enter a sales representative ID for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a sales representative ID. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Sales Representatives check box.

Note  If a sales representative ID is entered in the Sales Representative field in User Extended Options for your user ID, then your sales representative ID is displayed in this field, and you cannot enter a sales representative ID. This prevents sales representatives from seeing other sales representative's sales information.

All Forecast Groups

Select this check box to display DRP information for all customer forecast groups. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Group ID

Enter a customer forecast group ID for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a customer forecast group ID. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Forecast Groups check box.

Name (Forecast Group)

Enter a customer forecast group name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a customer forecast group name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Forecast Groups check box.

List (Forecast Groups)

Click this button to display Forecast Group List, which allows you to select specific customer forecast groups for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Forecast Groups check box. If you click this button and select customer forecast groups, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Locations

Select this check box to display DRP information for all locations. This check box is selected by default.

Location Prefix

Enter a location prefix for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a location prefix. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Locations check box.

Name (Location)

Enter a location name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a location name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Locations check box.

List (Locations)

Click this button to display Location List, which allows you to select specific locations for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Locations check box. If you click this button and select locations, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Categories

Select this check box to display DRP information for all product categories. This check box is selected by default.

Category

Enter a product category for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product category. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Categories check box.

Name (Category)

Enter a product category name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product category name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Categories check box.

List (Categories)

Click this button to display Category List, which allows you to select specific categories for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Categories check box. If you click this button and select categories, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Subcategories

Select this check box to display DRP information for all product subcategories. This check box is selected by default.

Subcategory

Enter a product subcategory for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product subcategory. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Subcategories check box.

Name (Subcategory)

Enter a product subcategory name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product subcategory name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Subcategories check box.

List (Subcategories)

Click this button to display Subcategory List, which allows you to select specific subcategories for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Subcategories check box. If you click this button and select subcategories, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Product Lines

Select this check box to display DRP information for all product lines. This check box is selected by default.

Product Line

Enter a product line for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product line. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Product Lines check box.

Name (Product Line)

Enter a product line name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product line name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Product Lines check box.

List (Product Lines)

Click this button to display Product Line List, which allows you to select specific product lines for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Product Lines check box. If you click this button and select product lines, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Styles

Select this check box to display DRP information for all styles. This check box is selected by default.

Product Style

Enter a product style for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product style. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Styles check box.

Name (Style)

Enter a style name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a style name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Styles check box.

List (Styles)

Click this button to display Style List, which allows you to select specific styles for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Styles check box. If you click this button and select styles, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Sizes

Select this check box to display DRP information for all sizes. This check box is selected by default.

Size Code

Enter a size code for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a size code. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Sizes check box.

Name (Size)

Enter a size name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a size name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Sizes check box.

List (Sizes)

Click this button to display Size List, which allows you to select specific sizes for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Sizes check box. If you click this button and select sizes, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Colors

Select this check box to display DRP information for all colors. This check box is selected by default.

Color Code

Enter a color code for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a color code. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Colors check box.

Name (Color)

Enter a color name for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a color name. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Colors check box.

List (Colors)

Click this button to display Color List, which allows you to select specific colors for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Colors check box. If you click this button and select colors, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

All Products

Select this check box to display DRP information for all products. This check box is selected by default.

From

Enter the first product code in a range of product codes for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product code. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Products check box.

Elements (From Product)

This button is disabled in this window.

List (Products)

Click this button to display Product List, which allows you to select specific products for which to display DRP information. This button is only enabled if you clear the All Products check box. If you click this button and select products, the check box to the right of the button is selected.

To

Enter the last product code in a range of product codes for which to display DRP information, or click the Lookup button to select a product code. This field is only enabled if you clear the All Products check box.

Elements (To Product)

This button is disabled in this window.

Forecast Time Bucket

Select the forecast time bucket. It can be monthly, weekly, or daily. The Monthly radio button is selected by default.

History Time Range

Select the number of prior months, weeks, or days for which to display historical data. The unit of time is based on the selected Forecast Time Bucket option.

Note The sum of the value entered in this field and the Forecast Time Range field must be equal to or less than 98.

Forecast Time Range

Select the number of future months, weeks, or days for which to display forecast data. The unit of time is based on the selected Forecast Time Bucket option.

Note The sum of the value entered in this field and the History Time Range field must be equal to or less than 98.

First Prior Average

Enter a number of prior time buckets for which you want to average net sales. You can set up three averages.

Second Prior Average

Enter a number of prior time buckets for which you want to average net sales. You can set up three averages.

Third Prior Average

Enter a number of prior time buckets for which you want to average net sales. You can set up three averages.

Secondary Sort Option

Enter a secondary sort option for data on the Results tab. Data is sorted primarily by customer forecast group, and then by the selected secondary sort option. You can select one of the following sort options:

  • Location / Product Code

  • Product Code / Location

  • Category / Subcategory

  • Product Line / Style

Display Options Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

POS Sell Through

Select this check box to display point of sale sell through data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Actual Net Units Sold

Select this check box to display actual net units sold in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Adjusted Net Units Sold

Select this check box to display adjusted net units sold data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Promotional Sales

Select this check box to display promotional sales data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

System Forecast

Select this check box to display system forecast data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Actual Forecast

Select this check box to display actual forecast data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Sale Price

Select this check box to display forecast sale price data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. The price is calculated for one unit of the product for a customer in the customer forecast group using the same logic that is used to determine prices during order entry.

This check box is selected by default.

Revenue

Select this check box to display revenue data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Gross Margin

Select this check box to display gross margin data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Gross Margin %

Select this check box to display gross margin percentage data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Gross Margin

Select this check box to display forecast gross margin data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Gross Margin %

Select this check box to display forecast gross margin percentage data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

First Prior Average

Select this check box to display first prior average data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Third Prior Average

Select this check box to display third prior average data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Skip a Row between Forecast Groups

Select this check box to skip one row between customer forecast groups on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Second Prior Average

Select this check box to display second prior average data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Customer Forecast

Select this check box to display customer forecast data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Cost

Select this check box to display forecast cost data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. The cost is calculated for one unit of the product for the product's primary supplier using the same logic that is used to determine the cost during purchase order entry. The landed cost estimates for the product/location are also added to this cost.

This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Revenue

Select this check box to display forecast revenue data in a row for each customer forecast group on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Promotional Forecast

Select this check box to display forecasts associated with promotions for customers on the Results tab.

Primary Summary

Select the primary method of summarizing data on the Summary tab.

Secondary Summary

Select the secondary method of summarizing data on the Summary tab.

Summarize by

Select a method for summarizing data on the Summary tab.

Style

Select this check box to display styles in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Product Code

Select this check box to display product codes in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Product Name

Select this check box to display product names in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Group

Select this check box to display forecast groups in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Size

Select this check box to display sizes in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Color

Select this check box to display colors in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Category

Select this check box to display product categories in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Subcategory

Select this check box to display product subcategories in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Product Line

Select this check box to display product lines in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Product Status

Select this check box to display product statuses in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Expected Normal Forecast

Select this check box to display expected normal forecast in a column on the Results tab. This check box is selected by default.

Totals By

Select whether to display totals by customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab.

Actual Net Units Sold

Select this check box to display actual net units sold data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Adjusted Net Units Sold

Select this check box to display adjusted net units sold data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Revenue

Select this check box to display revenue data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Above (Below) Forecast

Select this check box to display above below forecast data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Revenue

Select this check box to display forecast revenue data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Above (Below) Forecast %

Select this check box to display above below forecast percentage data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Actual Forecast

Select this check box to display actual forecast data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Forecast Gross Margin

Select this check box to display forecast gross margin data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Gross Margin

Forecast Gross Margin %

Select this check box to display forecast gross margin percentage data in a row for each customer forecast group or product on the Totals tab. This check box is selected by default.

Results Tab Fields and Buttons

Field or Button

Description

View

This grid displays DRP information based on the criteria selected on the Selection tab.

The columns and rows in this grid vary based on the options selected in the Results tab Rows to Display and Results Tab Columns To Display sections on the Display Options tab.

This grid may include the following rows:

  • POS Sell Through - This is information supplied by customers based on what they sold through to their customers. You can use this information to help you make purchasing decisions based on whether product demand is increasing or decreasing.

Note Typically this is supplied by mass merchants through an EDI product activity file. You can import this data in Forecast Sales History Import or EDI Product Activity Import. You can also manually enter it in Forecast Sales History Maintenance.

  • Actual Net Units Sold - This is calculated from actual sales and returns history for each forecast group.

  • Adjusted Net Units Sold - This is calculated from actual sales and returns history for each forecast group. Adjusted net sales includes permanent replacement product sales.

Note This can also be edited using Forecast Sales History Maintenance.

  • Promotional Sales - This is calculated from actual sales and returns history for each forecast group if the price matrix is marked as promotional.

Note This is informational only, and is already included in the Adjusted Net Units Sold values.

  • Promotional Forecast - This is the forecast associated with promotions for customers. This is included in the Actual Forecast if the Promotional Forecast Logic parameter is set to Include for the forecast method that is being used.

  • Customer Forecast - This is the customer-supplied forecast, typically from a mass merchant (e.g., Wal-Mart) and typically transmitted using EDI Form 830 (Sales/Order Forecast).

  • System Forecast - This is the forecast calculated by the forecast method associated with the buying method for a product/location.

  • Actual Forecast - This is the actual forecast for the product.

  • Forecast Sales Price - The price is calculated for one unit of the product for a customer in the customer forecast group using the same logic that is used to determine prices during order entry.

  • Forecast Cost - The cost is calculated for one unit of the product for the product's primary supplier using the same logic that is used to determine the cost during purchase order entry. The landed cost estimates for the product/location are also added to this cost.

  • Revenue - This is the total revenue, calculated as the adjusted net units sold multiplied by the sales price.

  • Gross Margin - This is the gross margin, calculated as Adjusted Net Units Sold * (sales price - cost).

  • Gross Margin % - This is calculated as 100 * (Gross Margin / Revenue).

  • Forecast Revenue - This is calculated as the actual forecast multiplied by the forecast sales price.

  • Forecast Gross Margin - This is calculated as Actual Forecast * (Forecast Sales Price - Forecast Cost).

  • Forecast Gross Margin % - This is calculated as 100 * (Forecast Gross Margin / Forecast Revenue).

  • Prior X buckets average (first, second, third) - These rows display average actual net units sold for the specified prior time buckets. Use the First Prior Average, Second Prior Average, and Third Prior Average fields on the Selection tab to specify the number of time buckets for each average.

You can manually update the forecast in the Actual Forecast row.

Double-click a row to display detailed information in Product DRP Management, or double-click a POS Sell Through row to display Point of Sale Inquiry, which allows you to review point-of-sale and other product activity data for mass merchant stores.

Note If you select the Weekly radio button on the Selection tab, the first day of each week is based on the value entered for the First Weekday field in System ID Maintenance. The week column headers are also preceded by the week number if the Include Week Numbers in Column Label check box is selected in Purchasing Control Maintenance.

Totals Tab Fields and Buttons

Description

Totals

This grid displays DRP totals based on the options selected on the Selection and Display Options tabs. The columns in the grid correspond to the selected time buckets.

This grid may include the following rows:

  • Actual Net Units Sold - This is calculated from actual sales and returns history for each forecast group.

  • Adjusted Net Units Sold - This is calculated from actual sales and returns history for each forecast group. Adjusted net sales includes permanent replacement product sales.

  • Actual Forecast - This is the actual forecast for all products.

  • Above (Below) Forecast - This is the difference between the actual forecast and the adjusted net units sold.

  • Above (Below) Forecast% - This is the percentage difference between the actual forecast and the adjusted net units sold.

  • Revenue - This is the total revenue, calculated as the adjusted net units sold multiplied by the sales price.

  • Gross Margin - This is the gross margin, calculated as Adjusted Net Units Sold * (sales price - cost).

  • Gross Margin% - This is calculated as 100 * (Gross Margin / Revenue).

  • Forecast Revenue - This is calculated as the actual forecast multiplied by the forecast sales price.

  • Forecast Gross Margin - This is calculated as Actual Forecast * (Forecast Sales Price - Forecast Cost).

  • Forecast Gross Margin% - This is calculated as 100 * (Forecast Gross Margin / Forecast Revenue).

Summary Tab Fields and Buttons

Summary

This grid displays DRP summary information. The first column displays information based on the selected Primary Summary and Secondary Summary option on the Selection tab.

Example If you select Category as the Primary Summary and Subcategory as the Secondary Summary on the Selection tab, the grid displays a row for each category, followed by a row for each of that category’s subcategories. The subcategories are indented.

The second column displays the selected Summarize by option.

The other columns in this grid correspond to the selected time buckets.

Note If you select the Weekly radio button on the Selection tab, the first day of each week is based on the value entered for the First Weekday field in System ID Maintenance. The week column headers are also preceded by the week number if the Include Week Numbers in Column Label check box is selected in Purchasing Control Maintenance.
