Lifecycle Task Import Format

The following tables list the format for importing a task, grid column, grid default row, ribbon link, task security, or validation record in Lifecycle Task Import.

If you entered Field for the Type field (position 6), enter one of the following formats for the task:

  • Character - The task allows users to enter data as both letters and numbers.

  • Date - The task allows users to enter a date.

  • Decimal - The task allows users to enter a decimal value.

  • File Path - The task allows users to enter a folder path to a file, or click a Lookup button and select a file. The task also has an Open button, which allows users to open a file associated with the task.

  • Integer - The task allows users to enter an integer value.

  • Logical - The task allows users to enter a value of Yes or No by selecting or clearing a check box.

  • Text - The task allows users to enter data as both letters and numbers. This task is similar to a character format task. However, it allows users to enter more information, and this type of task cannot be validated.

If you left the Type field blank, enter one of the following formats:

  • Section - The task creates a section of related data. Other tasks can be assigned to the section for data entry purposes.

  • Tabpage - The task creates a tab for data entry purposes.

If you entered Grid for the Type field, enter one of the following formats for the task:

  • Product - The task is a grid used to import product data.

  • Product Location - The task is a grid used to import product location data.

  • Product Unit of Measure - The task is a grid used to import product unit of measure data.

  • User Defined - The task is a grid of user-defined columns. If you enter this format, you must set up the grid in grid column records.

If you entered Operation for the Type field, enter the following format for the task:

  • Product / Product UM - The task is used to create a ribbon button to import a product and product unit of measure.

  • Update - Allow all users to view and update the task.

  • View - Allow all users to view the task, but only allow users from an assigned team to update the task.

Additionally, you can set up team-specific security for tasks, sections, and tabs in a task security record in the import file. Team-specific security for tasks overrides any inherited security. For more information on setting up task security, see Using Product Lifecycle Management.

If this field is blank, it defaults to Default.
