Wireless Warehouse Directed Putaway Process Flow

There are two separate methods of performing directed putaway with Wireless Warehouse. In the first method, the warehouse manager creates the directed putaway task in Directed Putaway and Bin Replenish, and indicates the bin into which the warehouse employee must put away the product. In the second method, a warehouse manager assigns a directed putaway task to a user in Message and Putaway Task Maintenance, without specifying the putaway bin, and the warehouse employee selects the bin into which the product is put away. Both methods require the warehouse employee to take the product from the assigned directed putaway bin. If you do not want to instruct the user on the products to put away, you should use the Wireless Warehouse Manual Putaway Process Flow instead.

To perform the process for the first method, use the following steps:

  1. In Location Maintenance, select the Use Directed Putaway check box for locations that will use directed putaway.

  2. Create logical putaway groups, which are product/location/unit of measure records that logically follow the same rules. Every putaway group can have multiple rules that can be sequenced so that if one rule does not apply, the software will search for the next rule, then the next rule, until all rules are exhausted. For more information, see Directed Putaway FAQ.

    1. In Putaway Group Maintenance, click the New button in the ribbon.

    2. Enter the putaway group name in the Putaway Group Name field.

    3. Enter a description of the putaway group in the Description field.

    5. Enter dimensional settings for the putaway group in the Dimensional U/M, Cube U/M, Weight U/M, Height, Cube, Net Tare Weight, Length, Gross Packaged Weight, and Width fields.

Note These fields are optional and should only be used if all products assigned to a putaway group have similar dimensions.

    1. Select options for the first rule/constraint combination for the putaway group, and click Enter. Repeat this for all rule/constraint combinations for the putaway group.

    2. Click the OK button in the ribbon. The putaway group is created.

    3. Repeat substeps a to h for all putaway groups you want to create.

  1. In Product Location Maintenance, enter the appropriate putaway group for each product's unit of measure in the Putaway Group column in the Selected U/M grid in the Units of Measure tab.
