Purpose

Overview

Use Zone Maintenance to optionally define picking/storage zones in a warehouse location. Zones are typically used in larger warehouses to segregate product picking into smaller, sub-warehouse areas. Warehouse locations can have unlimited zones, and zones can have unlimited bins. A pick demand can only have one zone associated with it.

Reasons that zones are typically used include:

Note The trade-off for multi-zone picking efficiency is the need for a staging area to consolidate multiple pick demands for shipments to customers.

Note If a zone has been assigned to bins, first re-assign these bins to other zones prior to deleting.

Description

Resequenced by

Enter a number for sequencing bins in the zone. Bins can be given sequence numbers to create an efficient pick path through a zone. If bins have sequence numbers, you can use this field to re-sequence bins to facilitate the insertion or adding of other bins to a zone.

Note A bin with a sequence number of zero cannot be resequenced. The assumption is that a zero sequence bin has not yet been reviewed to determine its place in the most efficient pick path.

Sort by

Select whether bins for the zone are sorted by bin name or sequence number in the Bins grid.

Go

Click this button to resequence bins for the zone by the number entered in the Resequenced by field.
